I think it was still in 3rd gear too, a few thousand from redline, though I didn't pay attention to how many times I shifted either. It was in a 35mph zone no less. :)

a guy I know with a GSX-R 1100 says him and his buddies cruise on the highway around 130mph from meets and stuff... the police apparently don't do anything when they go by that fast.

Because they can't catch them?

Yes that is an incredicle feat for any car. Its a well known fact that only the fastest cars in the world can keep up with a crotch rockets acceleration.

That is true for bikes being able to outaccelerate a car almost anytime......but a car can still be driven about as fast as bikes. Almost without exception, drivers of equal skill, discounting professional racers, will go about equally as fast as a bike in a car over the same course, the bike pulling away in straights and the car catching up in curves.....something about the fear of laying down the bike and dying vs. having four wheels of stability and lots of sheet metal around for protection in a crash......or something silly like that. There are a lot of dead crotch-rocket boys who tried to disprove that, too. The PA, CT, VT and most other major bike bone yards are full of crotch-rocket bikes that didn't make the curve the driver thought it should at high speeds......lack of skill or committment.

Not fair to race these bikes with the viper. The power to wieght ratio isn't even close. What I want to see run is that jet engine bike someone came up with. A real video, not something from a hollywood camera. That would be a feat.

Yeah,

Hayabusas are insane. Friend has one and says he's gotten it up to 174 mph...he's trying to break 180. He says it's so loud at that speed that the only thing you hear is the bike and the wind around you :Q

Here's an article on that Y2K bike that Jay Leno owns. That bike is insane...450 lbs-ft torque! He says that cars shouldn't pull up too close behind it because of the heat it produces :Q

Actually, a lot of cars would end up beating a bike on a course. Even though the bike can pull away in the straights, the disparity in cornering speed is huge. And it's mostly due to the fact that a car has four tires to grip with and a bike only two as opposed to a fear of laying the bike down.

But yes, the video is insane. Just watching the speedo is entertainment enough. I can't imagine accelerating that quickly.

Yep, way impressive car. Being able to keep up with a bigbore bike is very, very hard, especially when the car was smoking the bike on the high end....sweeeeeeet car......

I'm not sure which is more impressive, watching the Nitro 'Busa walk away from the Viper or watching the Viper run neck & neck with the stock 'Busa.

Remember it's a roll on. In the real world, people shift. I am not taking anything away from the car. It is possible to like both the car AND the bike. :D

The only problem I have with Vipers is not the car, but the driver. People pull up next to me and want to race. It shows they have little understanding of the limitations of what they drive.

In the video people shift too. There are at least two clear shift points for the Viper from the chase cam view.
