We need to look at many of the 1st world countries and ask ourselves why they don't have frequent mass shootings like we do in America.

Why is it. What makes a small segment of Americans want to kill other innocent Americans.

Is it a fear of helplessness?
Are they loners?
Extreme anger issues?
Are high powered guns too readily available in America?
Do they have a death wish? They feel that they can't move on with life anymore?
Is it society? Have we become selfish and only care about ourselves?
Are these shooters over medicated?
A lack of morals?
A disbelief in religion? Don't believe in God?

Maybe other countries' freer attitude towards sex grants them an extra layer of protection from mass shootings.

There are angry, disappointed, frustrated, low-esteem teenagers (and grownups) in every country around the world.

The difference is, when you're angry in the US, you can just take your mum's machine-guns out of her bedroom, and start a massacre.

In my country the angry teenager has to take a bread-knife, and see what he can do with that. For some reason, most frustrated teenagers with low self-esteem kinda figure out that they're not gonna be very effective with just a bread-knife.

Please show me a reputable scientific source that claims gay people, men that don't have children at 26, or people that don't reproduce in general are evolutionary failures. That's not the kind of vocabulary scientists use, it's a popular understanding of natural selection bolstered by the "Darwin Award" crap.

More abstractly it's trivial bullshit that becomes the all-consuming center of these people's lives.
My personal hypothesis is that crazy thrives most in homogenous environments. Which would be why you see the most intense racism and fanaticism in rural, isolated communities.

There's no more extreme example of a homogenous social network than a network of one. So people who are loners aren't crazy per se, but are more susceptible to crazy taking root and growing out of control.

The mentally ill do far more damage then shoot people. I dont think institutionalizing is the answer either. Back then, it was more about keeping the sick out of society. Today, we have a far better understanding of mental health and have far more treatments.

I think there are a lot of people out there who know someone, or is mentally ill and do not seek treatment because of either money or stigma.

The blanket claim was that "Biologically speaking people who don't reproduce ARE evolutionary failures" but it didn't differentiate between people who biologically can't reproduce from people who choose not to reproduce. I would like to see the research which demonstrates the biological and evolutionary aspects of personal choice and how it can result in "evolutionary failure" (whatever that is), i.e., show that it is a "scientific fact" that an individual not playing the game is equivalent to losing.

Are you seriously suggesting that any creature that does not reproduce is an evolutionary failure? That is such a basic failure to understand biology that it's not worth even discussing here. Ejaculating into a vagina is not the only way to propogate your genes.

In fact, the attitude that people that don't have children (or relationships with women, which is generally foundational to having children) are social failures is a horribly toxic part of our culture, and to the extent that you repeat and propogate this garbage, you contribute to a culture I'm convinced is at least partially to blame for incidents like this one.
