OOS at the local store literally 7 minutes after opening. Got in on the phone order but they wouldn't take the Visa coupon. Still a good deal IMHO if I get the NEC drive. If I get something else then I'll just return this.

I bought the mad dog from OM for $40 and hate this drive it plays disc but half the time cant copy, says the disc is dirty, the disc it plays fine is to dirty to copy?

This drive is not the best reader, though one of the best at burning. Use a Lite-On or Toshiba DVD-ROM for reading or playing. Why burn up a writer on reading or playing?

Why not burn this up reading and playing? Its only $30. Who cares?

I have the $10 VISA coupon. Can someone tell me why it is not allowed for me to post it?
Check the forum rules posted in the first thread. Coupons may have been issued to a limited clientele and posting them on a public board can lead to abuse of the offerer's intent whre it may even be explicitly stated that it is for certain parties only. Coupons that are listed on the vendor's website for public use can be posted. Someday, there will be coupons issued that are meant to draw in hot dealers( i.e. "may be posted on the internet") but not yet. The Visa coupon is for Visa holders. Besides, there are many other forums where they may be located and they are willing to run the risk of tangling with the coupon issuers. Here, you will see great hot deals but limited coupons. Some of the other forums have had their members black listed from stores due to excessive coupon abuse.

I have two questions regarding the rebates:
1.Both say that they require the original upc's, but how will that work if there is only one upc(or does someone know if these boxes contain two upc's on them?)
2. Do these rebates come through?

got a MadDog 4X DVD-R/RW drive the other day, it was a Toshiba drive. doesn't recognize the cheap AZO brand 4x DVD-R media.

OOS for me. I called in to use the Visa coupon. I'll cancel it if it doesn't ship before the rebate expires. I really hope that it works.

But why would you automatically assume that the coupon is not for limited use. Aditionally, the coupon IS on the vendors site.

The coupon is for officemax specifically.

The coupon is for Visa users specifically.

My guess would be that officemax shopers that use VISA cards are the ones intended to use this coupon.

All I'm seeing is the 4-in-1 MadDog drive in Minnesota. Anyone from around my neck of the woods getting in on this?

how does the nec 2500 compare to the lite-ons?

The NEC is superior -- it is flashable to dual-layer, and it is much less finicky about media.

I know that there are mod'd fw out there for this, BUT has ANYONE actually tested a dual-layer burn with one of these mod'd drives? Do you know this to be true first hand?

Thanks for any nfo.

I'm looking at the rebate forms online and they both require the original UPC. How do I send 1 original UPC to 2 places? Tear in in half (J/K).

Really though. Are copies accepted?

Can you buy multiple MAD DOG ( 8 X DVRW and 4 X DVD RW and CDRW/DVD combo) products and still be eligible for the rebates with different registration number everytime ?

I can see on mdmm.com registration page has Fname,Lname, email & UPC fields for the registratio number. So it will give me a different number for each products ?

I bought it in store and got the two rebate forms printed. The Mad Dog one for $40 says original. The OM $15 says original as well, but just under it in all caps it says "copy of upc/reciept acceptable with this". The online rebate submission using the web generated pages both say original upc.

I did the web version, sent the original in on the $40 and a copy on the $15 with a note saying that the original was sent in with the other rebate.

I've done many, many rebates over the years including multiple ones. General rule is send the original with to the manufacture's rebate and/or the higher value rebate unless otherwise stated. Never have been turned down.

Side note, last Mad Dog rebate took a little longer (3 months), but did come thru. It was to Seattle and easierrebate that handled it.

Question : Can I do registration for multiple Mad Dog products ? Anybody bought both DVDRW and DVD/CDRW combo ?

Got in at the Northtown OM. Was able to use the $10 off Visa coupon to get it for $79 or so out the door. Very nice deal. -Tal
