First option, hold on to it and sell when new flagship becomes availble.

Second option, sell ASAP for $425ish and get an 8800GT. Sell GT when flahship arrives.

I have no reason to sell now and can hold out. If I can still get $300.00 for GTX when new flahship arrives, I'll hold out. I've had GTX since launch.

Opinions?

How could you get 300 for the GTX when the new flagship arrives, when they could get a used 8800 GT for <200?

If it were me, I'd sell the GTX, and buy an OC'd GT.

Resale value is hard to forecast; but if new flahship is priced over $600 and the 8800GTX remains the second fastest option, there will still be a demand.

I'm *thinking* it will be valued at least $50.00 over a GT or revised GTS. No?

How reliable is this new review? I think I am convinced enough to get one. My rig is already 70db inside the case, and you can always use Rivatuner to slow the fan speed and only up it during gaming.

I already got the MSI OC from ClubIt, though since I'm in CA it went up to $260 because of taxes.

How come you posted the same link 5 times though? =P

if i was *anxious* ... i'd order this second ... [with options to cancel Monday AM before it ships and after i read the reviews]
:Q

however, as this is not an item expected to be discontinued like 2900pro ... i'd probably wait till Monday ... and if i could stand it a bit longer, *maybe* wait for AMD's offering.

that said ... this looks like a great card. If it's true, it instantly puts downward pricing pressure on GTS and 2900xt ... if i was so inclined, i'd sell my 2900xt for what i paid for it - now - and get one of these. As it is, there is no real reason for me to upgrade for my current games as 2900xt still has not lost its positioning as an upper-midrange card [yet - wait 2 weeks] ... and i do not expect to get Crysis 'till it is fully polished ... which will be Spring at the earliest :p

... well ... maybe ... anyone want to buy my 2900xt?

In bold ^^

I hear that. It may make SLI a possibility for me if a GTS640 price gets forced down. It would make the price of a new PSU not that painful. A 220.00 GTS640 would be sweet.

its awful. I have never done it before... and will never do it again... I don't recommend it to anyone.

8800GTS --> Radeon 7200

I think my onboard video is better. Who knew it took time to minimize windows...

(Oh wait I don't have any!)

good thinking ... my 2900xt is now officially off-sale :D

a $220 2900xt would be sweet for me. I bet i will have no problem with Crysis at 16x10, everything high with 2900xt X-fire
... a cheap upgrade indeed for '08 games ... better 'n GTX ultra performance.

Though I'm not sure there will be downward pressure for ATI until the 3800 series comes out, otherwise there would have been downward pressure on the 2900 even earlier because of it's pure gaming performance in alot of areas.

I didnt win anything, BUT what about..... two $250 8800GT's SLi?

$500 for 2 8800GT's - $300(estimate) for sold 2900xt = $200 spent

Chances are you'd have no problem with Ultra High on Crysis with an 8800GT SLI, stock 3dMark06 is like 18,000+! If you get the OC or OC2 variants you'd probably hit 20-22k easily.

Why? the 2900xt is *tied* to GTS-640 pricing. They are rightly perceived as competing cards.

The reason the 2900p did nothing is that is was such a limited release and they generally sold for 10-20% over-MSRP as even at $280 they were considered good value.

Now that we have newer sub-$300 cards that perform as well or better than $400 cards, we expect to see the older series closed out ... probably on sale; if there is still a good stock it would be reasonable to assume they will go for below $250, no?

OK, what about $320 + $220 = $550 for 2900xt Crossfire [including Orange Box] . And i won't have to change my MB or my PS :p
Best of all, when i drop in Penryn - shortly - i win !!!

Depends, if the stock is fixed and no more are being produced, then chances are it will be very hard for the price to fall (i.e., x1900xt prices, or 939 pin CPU prices, or DDR400 prices).

look at 1950p for $130 ... :p

the GTX will probably stay at a premium ... but i'd say -[my hopeful guess] is that there a LOT of 2900xts and probably GTS640 around ... PLUS a lot of people will be selling theirs for dirt cheap as they "upgrade"

I already saw an 8800GTS 640mb on craigslist for $250...although that was snatched up within a day.

Too many people try to sell GTX/Ultras at MSRP on craigslist though...they use retail prices (which is like 10% higher than msrp) and then say "$50 off!".

edit: actually someone is selling a 640mb GTS right now on SF craigslist too...tempting...but the GT is still looking better from a shader perspective.

Certainly not for Crysis :p
- The CPU is far more important according to the Devs and the GT does not convincingly beat the XT in every bench.
.. and i believe you're going to have to change your MB ... loads of fun!
:Q

i like ep2 way better than ep1. What i am really looking forward to is Hellgate:London .. i played the beta as a 'tester' and i really like it ... BUT, the devs claim it will not only look better in Dx10 than DX9 but also run significantly better.

I know I'll have to change my MB, but you know... im a bit long way away from SLi or CF.... so whomever has the better card next gen, I'll make the changes accordingly.
