Have you downclocked your memory BFG10K or tried a replacement card?
I haven't tried another 8800 GTS but I have underlocked the RAM. No effect. Because it only briefly flashes (less than half a second) I think it's probably a driver issue.

F.E.A.R. - I looked carefully and ran the demo 3 times, I saw none of this checkerboard phenomenon
You must be running either 8xQ or 16xQ - it doesn't happen with other AA modes.

After you fly through the glass window look to the top-right where the flickering light alcove is. You should see a diagonal block of black pixels briefly flash.

I can't take a screenshot as it's only for about half a second or so.

use fraps video making facility or hook up to a DVD recorder. You can then extract still frames.

I forced 8xQ, the framerate drop and visual changes confirm that it was active. Still no checkerboard pattern at the location specified. Someone with a GTS should still confirm this for you though.

Have to say, it's nice being able to play tomb raider legend at 1680 x 1050 with the next gen content enabled, AA, etc, and have frame-rates over 50.

It also looks dark with these drivers though, and the small bit that I tested the textures weren't displaying properly on some waterfalls. Not sure if it was like that before though.

Scaling is fixed.

Thief: Deadly Shadows still needs a whole lot of work. :(

Just to confirm, 1:1 pixel (no scaling) and fixed aspect ratio scaling (scale while maintaining aspect ratio) both work in the control panel now? If so thats great!

Yap 1:1 scaling definitely fixed!!! Sorry I didn't check sooner, but I was troubleshooting a 100% CPU utilization problem while idling and ended up borking my XP install somehow. Then I just took the opportunity to move my boot partition to my much quieter Raptor so that I can RMA my louder one.

Anyways, looks like some problems are fixed. Gonna fire up a few games in a bit and see how they run. BF2142 should look a lot better at native 1600x1200, not that it looked horrible stretched. :)

Interesting.. I'll try those and post some results.. Though the games I play don't give me any issues I wouldn't mind a performance boost

Done.

It only happens at 8xQ or 16xQ and only in that spot during the benchmark. Actual gameplay appears fine.

I'm still a few weeks away from my new system, can't directly compare will have to wait for others to comment. Have you tried varying levels of transparency AA to see if that has any effect? Have you tried reinstalling the game (could be corrupt level/texture data).

OK, now that I can put my eye in the right spot at the right time I think I can confirm this.

Ok played around with these for a bit, definitely quite a few fixes. Fixed some old bugs for me like a few annoying ones in FFXI and no traces of shimmering in Dark Messiah.

Can't really comment on performance since I'm running quite a bit slower with no OC'ing enabled. Anyone able to get some kind of OC working? I can't OC via RivaTuner and it gives me an error in nTune. I guess I can wait for the official release but it'd be nice to OC now and check performance at the same clock speeds.

Awesome, that probably means it's a driver issue and not my card being faulty.

Got OC'ing to work with ATI Tools. Actually clocked a bit higher now because of the built-in OC tester. :) Running at 630/1000 now without any artifacting in games.

What temps are you getting? Just curious

Yes, thats true unless you have a Leadtek GF8 series card.

What is this old-fashioned way? Cause I can't try them... :(

I thought I read on another forum, you have to extract the files and use the driver update button in device manager. Not really sure on that one though.

Idles at 60-62C, load 65-75C depending on the game/settings etc. OC'ing the GPU gives the biggest performance gains but also heats up temps the most.

Case cooling really helps a lot. I used to idle at 80-82C and temps didn't change much at all when playing a game with my Lian-Li PC-65+. Moving everything to my Antec Nine Hundred and its helped all of my temps a ton.

Edit: Oh ya to apply them you can use the setup if you go from Leadtek's site, otherwise updating driver from Device Manager works as stated.

Thanks guys, I got it working. OP is right, these drivers are vastly improved and I recommend them to anyone with an 8800.
