This card is useful for a specific subset of gamers, but for most people it's useless versus the onboard solution.
It's useless for everyone.
Not even remotely close. The card is very unique in being able to control many things you can't do with onboard nics. Thus it allows network traffic to be optimized just for gaming. $85 is really not a lot of money considering what this card can do.

Please go on and list the unique features that optimize the network traffic.
Way back in 94/95 or so I helped spec a LAN for the office (about 20 users). The server ethernet card was in that price range.This has no competition!
