Geez, that is kinda harsh, don't you think? I failed a Anthro class before but have a 3.65 average in all my Electrical Egineering classes I have taken so far (8 total now after last quarter) and a 3.9 average in all my engineering and math classes combined. Anthro is just way boring for some and it is hard to do well in. As for the other grades... don't know what to say there :)

no this guy needs a kick in the pants, if its sooo boring all the more reason to not to fail so you dont have to take it again, and if it wasnt going to happen he could have dropped the class and taken a W (withdraw) its better then getting an F.

True enough.

I can't stand it when people fail and find it acceptable to say "it was boring," or "I don't like that subject." That's such a cop-out.

nah, they're not gonna kick you out. but expect to take summer school and redeem yourself next semester (ie, sign up for really easy classes that'll boost your gpa). i had a friend that this happened too, he was pretty scared, but in the end, we all realized that he really didn't have THAT much to be scared about.

good luck,

Wow... and I was despairing over my 2.85 I pulled last term, bringing my cumulative down to 3.14!

I think I need to maintain a 3.0 cumulative to keep my full-ride scholarship, so I'm hoping to do better next semester than I did last semester. But part of the problem I think will be differential equations (ugh) and this electrical engineering class. Looks like I'll be trying to follow the same advice I'm going to give you: study your tail off and go to all the classes. I missed way too much class last semester.

I'm a computer engineering major at Iowa State University, by the way.

Not good dude. If this is your first year, claim that you were adjusting from living 17 years at home to one year away from your parents. Say you had chronic depression and all that jazz. If they need medical opinion, go see a psychologist and just lie about your college life.

I have above 1.5 cumulative.

you apparantly have been performing poorly academically for some time
perhaps college is not your calling (at least at this time in your life)
why don't you go out and get a full time job for a while -
you may like it (bye bye college)
you may hate it (try college again with more focus and determination)

this is not the end of the world, what ever happens - nobody is going to die. this experience will help make you a stronger person.
time to make lemonade out of lemons..figure out how to make this a learning experience about yourself, and life, and what it is that is really important to you.

i had a friend that was dismissed from UCD.

basically she had below a 2.00 gpa for three consecutive quarters. she was put on subject to dismissal. she took one class her last quarter, hoping to pull her GPA up, but barely got a c. she went to summer school, trying to pull off a 4.00, but managed to get a little over a 2.00. this didn't put her gpa back in the postive numbers, so in the fall when she returned she was dismissed.

they put her on a plan that stated if she went to a JC immediately and maintained at least a 3.00 gpa, she could apply to be readmitted for summer school. if she gets above i think a 2.5, she would be readmitted back for the following fall. instead she decided to go back to a JC and transfer to another school later on.

moral of the story: STUDY! care about school! i also work part time and go to school full time and i haven't had any problems. if you do get kicked out, you can go to a jc and just transfer elsewhere or follow through on whatever plan they put you on. and don't worry, you're not the only one.

I am worried about getting kicked out, and not my parents now!

One time I got:

F in history

F in English

D in Creative Writing(elective coarse. Maybe I should do ATOT rant kinda writing :))

A in math

B in chemistry

C in fine art

My parents flipped and I got grounded big time. I'm sure alot of ATOT'ers remember the details. I'm still suffering from it.

Ahem.
Get some friggin responsibility, you jackasses.
You go to UCDavis and can't pull off any better than a C this quarter? And jerboy can only get 1 A in what looks to be like high school??
What will you do when you have a real job? They'd just fire you.
Sorry - it's harsh, but you'll never learn if you people just give you ways to get around it.
All i know is, if i were your parents, paying 30k/year for you to fail out, i'd have disowned you already.

I was in the same boat twice(once in high school and once in college) and I pulled out of it.
I have one piece of good advice for you.

You know what you did wrong and it's 100% up to you if you want to correct it. You didn't get into UCD because you were stupid so
I'm confident that the bad grades weren't a result of you being too dumb.

For me, I had to drop some friends, drop some girls. stop fvcking so many girls, stop drinking, and get off some pills. I didn't place the blame on anyone, it was all me. I knew what had to be done and i did it. Sometimes it's hard to say no to hot flip girls with giant breast but it had to be done.

You're in college now. It's your call. You make the choice you take the blame. You want to listen to your pecker for the rest of your life or you want to gut it out for 4 years and then party. I'm telling you, if you're decent looking, make more than 60K a year, women will throw themselves at you. Just do want needs to be done now.

Cool! Does the "pro quatily photoshoped report card" have real pro quality spelling mistakes all over it too?
But don't worry, when he needs to explain his situation to the counselor and the subject of poor grades comes up, i'm sure he can just whip out his "pro quatily photoshoped report card" which shows a 4.0 average, and everything will be fixed.

Yeah, not everyone needs a college degree to be successful. Perhaps you should just stick with what you're good at, and get a job that lets you to it.

Seriously, though, you've wasted your time in college if you can't get your GPA above 2.5 before you graduate. Most employers won't even look at a resume with a GPA below 3 nowadays.
