Haven't posted much in a while, sorry, I have been quite busy. So I have been one of those ever so popular leeches. But I just wanted to let everyone know of the outstanding service I received from 800.com. We always hear of these horror stories, so I thought I would give some positive feedback for once. I ordered a 32" Toshiba on Saturday, and realized on Sunday after I went to Best Buy to take a look at it, it was a bad set (the tube was as spherical as a fish bowl). So when I called to confirm delivery, I informed them I wanted to change to a 32" Panasonic that was 440 after all the rebates. The guy told me everything was set, and it would be shipped on the 20th. Two days later I receive a phone call from 800.com calling to confirm my address again!? I ask why, when I had already done this. Well, the guy on Sunday didn't take down any of the changes, and the TV was not shipped. Well, to make matters worse, the Panasonic was now out of stock. So it sounds like a nightmare thus far! But, today, after talking to a few people (all that were pretty understanding) they are shipping a 32" Superflat to me for $499 (on their site for $999). So I feel they more than accommodated me, and I will order many more products from them in the future. I know this isn't really the forum for this, but many of us deal with shady online companies. So this is just to say 800.com is a step above the rest when it comes to customer service. Thanks to Jeff Porter (Head customer service manager) for assisting me in this matter. Oh, btw, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Congrats CURLYnoodle. But had a bad experience with them. I ordered a Sony Home Theatre from them, and I found at some other site the same thing for less. I asked them to price match after a day I ordered and that I have not yet received it. They said they will not price match after placing the order. May be it depends on the CS we talk to and/or luck.

byte26: They should price match, they have a 30 day return policy. You could send it back and reorder w/ the pricematch.

I forgot one thing, they won't pricematch unauthorized Sony dealers, and most authorized dealers set the same exact price.

Just to add my two cents here...

I recently bought a large screen TV and home theater from 800.com. There were some mix ups due to the shipping company. (Not their fault). Anyways, the customer service I reveived from them was AMAZING. I have never had such good customer service and would recommend shopping there to anyone.

I bought a 50" Toshiba TV last year from them, and had a little problem with the shippers. I complained to 800.com and their PRESIDENT/CEO called me personally.. got me on a conference call with the head of the shipping company, and resolved my problems. They threw a couple DVDs in the deal to keep me happy. I'm a customer for life.

Any company that goes so far as to include free popcorn with a movie order is okay in my book!

My experience is that 800.com's customer service is as good as any company I have ever dealt with.

Just a neat note. At my company, a salesman of ours met with the CEO. On his business card was:

xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx <- name
Cutomer Service Representative
President and CEO

If that doesnt say something, nothing does.

Gee... I ordered a receiver and a DVD player on Sunday, they arrived today, Wednesday, and the shipping was free!
Talk about speedy delivery! Happy camper here.

Oh, yeah. I live in the sticks and delivery here usually adds a day or two. That's why they impress me.

Thanks for the original post CURLYnoodle, and also your comments jcarson. I've been using 800.com for over two years now (back to when they started by selling 3 Videos or 3 DVD's for $1.00 each...now *that* was a HOT deal and a helluva way to open a business!) and have *always* been pleased with them.

I hope they don't go out of business, because Amazon and Buy.com could sure learn a few good things from them about Customer Service.

I just got off the phone with 800.com. I have been buying from them for years. I ordered a DVD and when I received it, the spindle was broken. When I finally got a CSR to reorder one ... They did so at a higher shipping rate ... and accidentally ordered the wrong version. I called again. This time they sent another ... I didn't open it because you could here the DVD was bouncing around inside the case. So I called again and returned the orders ... To date I have not received a full credit, reorder, or resolution. Frustrated I called another supervisor who promised a resolution 2 weeks ago, and I guess forgot.

Tonight I had a great CSR ... and I hope we can finally get things right but I wasted 6-7 phone calls, messages and another 3-4 emails.

I can't say I am as please with my experience as you guys who got great resolutions. But I applaud you for complimenting a company when service is good ... we all seem to be experts at volcally criticizing companies when service isn't.
