It's pretty cool and high tech but also kinda scary to think that there won't be a hunk of metal protecting you.

F/A-18 Hornets are 99% composite... and yet withstand mach 1.5 flight and way over 9g's... and are VERY survivable in combat....

we had one fly back with half its ass end missing and the composite ws strong enough to get him home even after major damage..
Streangh of composite is a non issue...

Won't age like aluminum either! That's the big difference.

Comparison:

7E7-9
- 8,300 nautical mile range
- Mach 0.85 cruise speed
- 257 passengers

BWB
- 8,000 nautical mile range
- Mach 0.85 cruise speed
- 800 passengers <-- DAYUM!!!!

The guy running their design team thinks everybody is still on 14.4 modems. :p

Now THAT is cool! The wingspan is a little wider than the 747, I wonder if it would fit on standard runways? Where would first class be I wonder, in the middle or on the sides?

I'm guessing it's more a bandwidth saving measure.

Yes, too lazy to click on the link, but NOT too lazy to type a response. Ok...

all it takes to quickly destroy a standard aluminum bodied airline is some mercury

yup, tool of ww2 sabotage. mercury + aluminum = uncontrolled oxidation. a few hours and ur plane will fall apart.. too much faith in aluminum;)
