it's amazing how clean the water is... especially for still water.

Ughhhh, "reward"? Robbery!

<< The logo will be used for the web site, t-shirts and hats, print, etc. >>

Ok, this is just pathetic. This is obviously a well established company that can afford to pay a lot more money for IDENTITY. If this logo is going on that many things, this $50 dollars will be paid for with 2-3 T-Shirts sold.
These forums have become a place where people can go to get free logos.

<< We will be completely fair in that >>

Sure you will. Thatâ??s why you're "rewarding" someone $50 for a logo.
How much are you getting for the site? $1k? A couple trips there yourself?

I think....obviously you have a hard time choking down the most difficult part of doing a site.. Identity, thus you "reward" an insignificant fraction of your pay to people here, who don't realize the value of good Identity.

<< And you don't see me asking for any free logo do you? All I'm asking is that anyone interested, obviously not you, that has a few free minutes can practive their graphic skills and make a few dollars. If you don't have the skills or interest then don't do it; it's really that simple. >>

Sorry if I was being hostile, jjones.
Understand that I see at least one of these threads a month. Would you believe you've been the highest paying i've seen thus far? (except a video card). Ouch? I'm a freelancer.. so it gets to me.

My point. $50 for company identity is, well.. free. People pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for someone to create a logo which the company can be judged by, seen on letter heads, business cards.. ect. This kind of thing takes talent and time.. if you were to accept a logo created by someone while they "practive their graphic skills" I'd be sadly dissapointed in the quality of work.

Take this for example. It took hours upon hour. That was the finalizes style, but for him to be happy it took litereally close to 50 variations in total.
It had to be tested on print and paper to see if it worked, and we had to get feedback on many different revisions.

I hope that your friend wouldn't settle for something that just looked neat on a BBS. This stuff represents him, and projects and image of his company.. blah blah blah.

Good luck.

The logo will be used for the web site, t-shirts and hats, print, etc.

Errr..if he has money to do all of this, why doesn't he pay for a logo to be developed for him?
$50 for a logo identity that will be used in all forms of the business is pathetic. I hope your friend knows that
brand identity is very important. No wonder every photoshop jockey on the internet thinks they are a designer when
you pay $50 for something that usually starts off at $500. And logo's usually are done in Illustrator as a vector file in a pantone color so
that you will be able to use it in all the forms that you listed. Photoshop logos are a pain and will cost more since you will
probably need a 4 color separation. You guys need to do some real research! Just some advice from a graphic designer.

Yippers. I don't mind messing around in Photoshop for an hour just for fun, but your
friend will definitely need a scalable, high-res EPS file (made in Illustrator) - unless he
wants any printer he deals with to make fun of him behind his back and for everything
except the website to look low-res and crappy. Chances are that no one will do that
kind of work for $50.

I can guarentee you that Xcaret and Xel Ha spent more than $50 on their logos.

<< What we're mostly tryng to do is get rough or finished ideas. If any logos look good as is, we'll use it but even if we just get a decent idea to work with and finish it here, we'll still pay the $50.00. >>

So what you're saying is that you are an uncreative nimrod who doesn't have a creative thought in your head and you want to go fishing for other people's brainpower and pay them next for nothing for an idea that has the potential to make a company millions of dollars over the life of the mark. Is that it?

I'm a graphics guy too. What you guys don't realize, is that it aint all about the money. Sure, at work I get good money for logo work, but for me to spend a couple of minutes to help out an ATOT'er is no big deal. Plus, I enjoy a little good competition. Hell, I did 7 logos (or something like that) in a contest here that won me a DVD as a prize. Big deal. I had fun.

Also, I do most of my logo work in CorelDraw, not Illustrator. Vectors in Panatone too, and I like the tools better. Im more comfortable with it. Peace.

And you're telling me that you have enough talent for him to even care about what the fsck you think, or that your oh-so-high-and-mighty ideas are to be coveted and worthy of some big cash, or that 10 minutes of your time that could get you 50 bucks rather than surfing ATOT and neffing just isn't worth your time? Is that it?

Shut the hell up. Find some other thread to up your postcount, you pathetic little whining reposter.

Oh, and jjones..I may take a shot at it for you. 🙂

Someone else will probably come in here and snatch it up(Damn, ThePresence saw it! 🙁 😉) but since you are a fellow airsofter I will throw a few ideas your way. 😀

I use mostly Corel for my graphic work as well; CorelDraw and PhotoPaint. I started using Corel years ago and prefer it over Adobe although I know that's blasphemy in the graphic designers world. 😉

And I hope you don't hold it against me because I use Corel 😉
I do have a ::cough:: "evalutation" copy of Photoshop but it rarely gets used. 🙂

The last time I used anything even related to Corel was back in WIndows 3.1, IIRC. 😀
