Im really curious about the 2 x 8 pin 300 TDP models and what OC they get......and what premiums too I guess..33% morr power, wonder what that equates to in OCíng?

What is it about nvidia that makes people that are presumably not on its payroll to twist facts and spit half-truths at best and blatant lies at worst just to defend its "honor"?

If you aren't going to contribute to the thread it's thread crapping, and we'd really, really rather you not did that :(

Are you stalking my posts or something ? What does my 480 dying have to do with anything ? What did you see that post and make a mental note ? o_O

It's not a very large forum, it's been overrun by the type of people that run out everyone else. You post a lot so your posts are hard to miss. It's a public forum, not sure how you came up with another personal attack insinuating that I stalk you but it wasn't surprising. I retain most of what I see, and I'll remember it years from now.

Your link is funny because it has no merit :p

I got 12 7970's and 11 of them blew up due to excessive power draw, and the 12th one arrived DOA. Is that valid too? Are you going to use that in the future? :whiste:

Nice job filling a post with personal attacks, then ignore the proof I provided which you so graciously attack me over not providing only to continue personally insulting me in the post you should have addressed the proof you attacked me over in the first place... So it stands to reason that provided or not you'd still personally attack me and support the hardware you don't own, just like you've always done. Do you really own it? Can we see the picture with your name next to your hardware with the date and Anandtech next to it? ;)

Wouldn't it be 375 TDP with 2x8 though?

Hmmm, I don't understand. You two have been going back and forth a bit, but I didn't see any blatant lies. The numbers are really close on both cards, but the fact is one of the cards is 100 dollars cheaper. Regardless of a few fps here and there, the 680 is a much better deal than the Lightning right now. In a month or so, if/when AMD lowers the prices it could change everything. However, right now, fighting over +/- 5% in random games is pointless when one costs 15-20% less.

Groove already posted graphs.

As did I showing the 20 fps hickups? Throw those flags up.

Really it is a wash performance wise, I'd give a slight edge to the 680 but not a meaningful one.

Everything else is a win for the 680 though, unless I'm missing something, and in which case if I am I'm sure it will be pointed out soon enough.

It's funny how we could all link to 10 different reviews and get 10 different results..

Here's one with the 7970 @ 1100MHz with the 680 @ 1156Mhz

Funny, but you saw my post and felt compelled to google for other people with the same failure ? Why ? Waaaaaaaay out there.

Your link is funny because it has no merit :p

Well yeah, sure, I just found in a few seconds what you couldn't with your google efforts in earnest. Why were you googling for similar issues in the first place then ? Were you expecting a PR release from nvidia explaining that yes indeed, some 480s have failed due to a VRM failure ? Or were you googling for exactly what I linked, somebody's personal experience with the card resulting in the same problem I had ?.. But why are we discussing your fixation on something that happened to one of my cards ?

Oh right, you were caught out making yet another post with no factual evidence. Given links to the exact opposite and went for the goalpost shift.

I got 12 7970's and 11 of them blew up due to excessive power draw, and the 12th one arrived DOA. Is that valid too? Are you going to use that in the future?

No, because you own a couple 3 gen old mid-range cards on water cooling. The whole forum is well aware of this by now. So your statement is a falsehood. But clearly you're using some sort of attempt at tongue-in-cheek so you're not lying. At least I don't think you own 12 7970s, I would assume you'd buy some 680s....

Nice job filling a post with personal attacks, then ignore the proof I provided which you so graciously attack me over not providing only to continue personally insulting me in the post you should have addressed the proof you attacked me over in the first place...

Pointing out that you were making broken statements and giving evidence to the contrary is not a personal attack or an insult, if it feels that way to you, sorry - was not my intent to hurt your feelings.

So it stands to reason that provided or not you'd still personally attack me and support the hardware you don't own, just like you've always done. Do you really own it? Can we see the picture with your name next to your hardware with the date and Anandtech next to it? ;)

Yeah I'll get right on that. Anyone reading your past however many posts has probably seen what you're trying to insinuate. I guess going forward this should be the new de facto standard here at AT forums to allay the paranoia running rampant here:

All posters must include links in their signature to prove ownership.

I make bank, I can afford to buy all kinds of hardware. What I can't afford is to waste my time doing a photo shoot to indulge a goal-post shift aimed at moving the focus away from some broken statements that were being made.

Oops, yes, was thinking of 6+8 = 300w, however there are cards coming with 8+8....allegedly.

Assuming the dynamic TDP can be changed to take advantage of all that extra power those could be some very good clocking cards, of course at the cost of high power draw ;)

With 300+ TDP you could quickly make a case for water cooling.

Do I need to post individual pics of all my cards or can it be a one shot deal? I suppose I need to update it too cause my current inventory has grown considerably, lol.

Because typing google and doing a quick search was hard, and being informed before making a statement goes against your very nature.

Well yeah, sure, I just found in a few seconds what you couldn't with your google efforts in earnest. But why are we discussing your fixation on something that happened to one of my cards ?

You found nothing, what part of that didn't you get? Because with everything you've said and done it goes towards your character. Same boat as the other adamant poster who after months of saying he'd get a 680 if it was better than the 7970, quickly changed his tune and said he'd never buy Nvidia products for "other" reasons...

Oh right, you were caught out making yet another post with no factual evidence. Given links to the exact opposite and went for the goalpost shift.

What are you talking about? Here since you keep failing to notice it, let me post it six times in a row because you seem to be visually impared when the facts shift against you.

I would think since of the active posters I represent about 5% on this forum section. Everyone else has cleared out from having no desire to deal with head strong opinionated bias individuals. Who only when backed into a corner admit their actual station after lying about it for years.

Pointing out that you were making broken statements and giving evidence to the contrary is not a personal attack or an insult, if it feels that way to you, sorry - was not my intent to hurt your feelings.

You're welcome, and forgiven, I sure hope this clears your misguided perspective.

Yeah I'll get right on that. Anyone reading your past however many posts has probably seen what you're trying to insinuate. I guess going forward this should be the new de facto standard here at AT forums to allay the paranoia running rampant here. What am I trying to insinuate exactly? Let's lay it out since everyone knows your position, including members of other forums. All posters must include links in their signature to prove ownership.

I make bank, I can afford to buy all kinds of hardware. What I can't afford is to waste my time doing a photo shoot to indulge a goal-post shift aimed at moving the focus away from some broken statements that were being made.

You have kept all your cards?....

nah, I sell them as I upgrade to keep the upgrade costs down. I'm a collector though, so I like to buy vintage highend cards.

My voodoo 5 5500 has been with me since launch though. For some reason that card is important to me

Balla, you go ahead and have at the last word, this is just polluting the forum and this thread now.

I figure you need it and going on my initial reply to you http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=33198771&postcount=43 I took the last word then, since that point you've resorted to changing the subject, linking some random graph, shifting the goalposts and asking me for pics...

Basically anything and everything to avoid being put down and on the spot.

Maybe if I feel generous I will throw up a pic of my new 680 SLI setup tomorrow so you can make a full wall poster of it or something.

it's one hiccup not hiccups, besides

I can just as well claim that hiccups to 35fps are just as unacceptable and claim that the game is unplayable on GTX680 too. Besides, see how long GTX680 stays at 35fps and how long 7970 stays at 25fps. That spike on GTX680 is way worse in gameplay. Thus, Deus Ex HR is unplayable on GTX680. :D

Nice, way to be the bigger man I'm glad we could put this past us.

Orrrrrr not.

I already posted both a graph and a video of what you started personally attacking me over. Yet you continue to ignore that fact as if your entire argument hinged on it, oh wait it did... Time to move on, don't you think?

How about I have the last word instead? I trust you both are done. Otherwise something will have to be done.

Bella remember how you claimed that GTX580 provides better gameplay experience in Dues EX HR? Just look at the newest graph and see how variable those benchmarks are. Do you still claim that GTX580 is better in Deus EX than 7970? Probably you will because it has 28 minimum and 7970 has 25. Anything to suit your agenda.

I remain optimistic that you understand the difference between going from 80 fps to 20, when compared to going from 46 to 36.

Way to answer my question. Sure I understand, in the first case you get playable fps sometimes in the second case you never get playable fps.

Do you remember Glide?, i dont think I have ever seen such smooth movement generated by video cards, the light balance and such....I remember a demo of some light racing around a track....the light was so trippy!
