na, all i need is a memory ratio and that RDram will be dust 😉

what does 'will be dust mean'? does that mean your ddr setup is faster than the 533/1066 setup?

Robbio ive run plenty of tests on P4A systems running DDR @ 400-433DDR speeds. Sandra reports 3000+/3000+ scores. how well does the 1066 RDram do? i saw reports of 2700/2700, dont know for sure tho.

it wont be long til we'll have cas2 400+DDR, and we wont even remember that RDram exists 😉
(not to mention DDRII on the horizon)

I personally had Pc1066 ram and 1.6@2.13 and the sandra marks were about 3400!! now with PC1200 you can just imagin! I think Toms hardware had an article and benchmarks of PC1200.

do you have to disable usb? i have a card reader/scanner/mouse that need to use the usb ports.

Also on newegg the pic shows a blue box. What are thouse jumpers for?

i dont use any usb - hence disabled.
other ppl have told me that having "USB Legacy Enabled" hurts overclocking.

the blue box is for jumper mode. (useless)

🙂

Newegg hasnt had the P4B266-C for a while. should i get it at www.atacom.com and then to get the rest of my rig at newegg?

Thanks

Oh btw... with windows 2000 do i need to install the intel drivers or am i better off with the default windows 2000 drivers? if the intel drivers are better then please post a link to them.

Thanks

Oh and does it matter if i install the intel drivers before of after sp2?

do you guys like the asus probe? or motherboard monitor better?

like 1+ years ago i heard that the motherboard monitor used a lot fo the memory. is it okay to use now?

and how does it compair to this?

CPU-Cool 478

many people say this is the best P4 heatsink.

He is using this heatsink Alpha PAL8942T .
It is probably the best out there.
The one u named is AKA "AVC Sunflower". (Also a very good Heat Sink)
But the Alpha PAL8942T is the king of all time so far. 😉

I got the Thermaltake Volcano 7+ w/ variable fan speed hi, med, and low settings
running @ 2.4GHz FSB 150 vcore @ 1.700
Hi setting (screamer) - idle ~29 C
- load ~43 C
Med (almost silent) - idle ~29 C
- load ~46 C
Low (is it spinning?) - idle ~31 C
- load ~51C
During testing room temp around 23-26 C...all system temp +1 or 2 room temp.
Set up is with Dual PSU Fan both exhaust...one directly on top of the CPU at top of case...the other blowing out to the room
Also with 2 intake (front, 1 fan in drive bay with 3 hard drives, 1 bottom of case), 2 exhaust fans (back below PSU)...all four are 80x80x25 mm fans
Case is the same as Antec 1030...

room temp = 25*C
playin mp3s and surfing here = 33*C (1.82v)
moboard = 29*C

max cpu temp = 48*C
max moboard temp = 30*C

there is only 1 alpha available for s478.
im using a vantec 27cfm 21db 80mm fan on it.

Does anyone know when newegg will get the p4b266-c back in? ive been waiting a week. will they get this board back in?

also.. THUGSROOK update your original post with the new heatsink you have.

Hey Thugs, I've gotten lots of good information from this thread. I think you've got an amazing overclock. You've done all the testing for us and found whats stable whats not, whats fast and whats slow.

I too have the Asus 845d but I think I made a mistake getting the 1.8 over the 1.6 I dunno why the 1.8 would react so much differently to overclocking, but it just doesn't seem to take it well.

I was get an annoying little random beep when I got up to 133mhz fsb (2.4ghz) I'm guessing its my power. The 1.8 wouldn't boot windows without atleast 1.7 Vcore, and even then it wasn't perfectly stable. Hopefully the Enermax 550 will get rid of that beep and maybe pull a little more out of this 1.8. My goal was 150 but after seeing this 1.6 at 170+ air cooled, maybe I should ditch this stubborn 1.8 and look for a lucky 1.6. My heats not too bad at 2.4 it was running at 30C idle and 37C under load (pretty hot day). If this 1.8 continues to be this way after the PSU upgrade and the 1.7V wire mod. Then its time to buy a 1.6.

Goodluck to you all with your overclocking, let us know your secrets 😉
