Mission Accomplished.

The voltage mod has been done! I did the 1.7v voltage mod and put the wire into the holes in the coket as wrapping the wires just wan't working for me! 😀

Right now, I'm at 2608Mhz (163Mhz FSB) at 1.9v true core voltage. I apparently have plenty of power as this is working great so far and the 12v rail is barely even impacted--it's at 11.904 at idle. I was unable to get through a run of 3DMark2001SE at 166FSB as it would crash-to-desktop. I also tried lowering the memory settings but that did not fix it. I think this chip is maxed out for this voltage right now. I'm hoping I can loop 3DMark2001SE for like 6 hours with these settings. And the best part of all is the temperatures: it doesn't go over 50C under full load! I've yet to measure idle but it's in the mid to upper 30's C. I am just using the stock HSF and I had to completely remove the gunk from the pad that came with it, so I lapped the HSF and got it all nice and shiny, then put a thin layer of thermal grease that I got at a local electronics store on there using a plastic bag over my finger (Thugs: That works great!). Seems to be working very well!

/me likes 😀 😀 😀

another satisfied customer! 😀

thats neat that those 2 PSUs work so well together - nice job! 😀

you still gonna get a HSF and some AS and go for 166fsb?

I dunno. Heat doesn't seem to be my limiting factor in getting to 166, but rather how much higher I want to go on the voltage. I'd have to do the next wire mod on it to go any higher and I'm not sure if it's really safe to start running this thing much higher than 1.9v.... what do you think?

STOP IT THUGSROCK!!!

PLEASE STOP!!!

I toldmyself that i wasn't going to upgrade after careful consideration... and every time i read this thread it kills me to see that you're upping your fsb by 1 or 2 evertyime... just stop okay!!!!

that'll help me decide to not build a new system 🙂

Guys... for the wire mod... what kind of wire did you guys use?
and where can i get it?

And sounds like you guys simply drop the wire into the cpu socket on the mobo?
Is that right?

wow DINO thats a killer 4200 score!!
Almost beats my best 4600 score, but i wasnt overclocked as high as i am now though.

Thug. Your gonna make me buy a p4b266-c aint ya??!?!?!?!? Dommit. I was hoping it wouldnt come to this. Well I have one coming for a customer. should be here tomorrow. Ill test it then. 😀

Thug or anyone help me pls.

I have a 1.6A/P4B166-C overclocked to 2.4 ghz (150 FSB), defaul voltage.

It boots and runs in winXP fine, temp is about 33C with stock HSF. However, whenever i run Prime95, it hangs.

I use Enermax 431W PS, 512 MB original Samsung PC2700, Gainward CardXpert GF2 MX. My guess is that's my video card but iam not sure. I don't use overvolt jumper or EZPlug.

Thanks guys

P.S. I lowered to 145 FSB, and Prime95 ran for a while and found error. iam not feeling good 🙁

Thanks Thug.

I raised voltage to 1.55 (actual 1.61 V read by Asus Probe v2.16.07, is that normal?). Everthing looks fine now

Note: Prime95 stresses your CPU...not your video card...if you computer hangs during 3DMark2k1se...then that would either be your video card or cpu...so if it doesn't hang on Prime95...and it hangs during 3dmark...then it's your video card

BTW...i just installed my new Enermax 550W with fan speed control...IT IS SO NICE (drool.....😛)
+12V @ 12.032v as before was 11.712v
+5.0v @ 5.053v as before was 4.99v
+3.3v @ 3.376v as before was 3.2xv

I just upped my FSB to 160...seem stable...haven't run any test yet...I am going to do that now...so i will update ya'll

Can anyone give me any info on the CPU that i have?
My mobo doesnt come for a few days and the PSU will be here on thursday.

On the cpu i seen this....
