My 2c?

Yes, it will be a die shrink to 90nm (nVIDIA already has 90nm products, just nothing of this caliber).
Yes, it will be 32 pipes (pipes, not shaders).
Yes, it will have somewhere in the neighborhood of a 700MHz core, and a 800MHz memory, which AIB's selling them with only slightly higher core, but memory up to 920ish.

Don't take it as gospel, just as my 2c. :)

If you're right then I'd say there's no way the price is gonna be $499 like the inq suggested.

Well. this is more on the level. a die shrink....... with memory clocked less than the 512 GTX....sounds as though Nvidia have it all to do.....even with the core being 650mhz. I guess that with this and the RD580 chipset coming out at the same time. Firing squad will finally be able to do a full review of the X1900XTX and 7900GTX sli'd crossfired and all the bells and whistles with fairly mature drivers and we will really be getting a feast I think. This is about the time that the inquirer usually get things right as to what a chip is.
If this is true then we all know why there were rumours of a 32 piped card.......to keep people from buying the ATI cards.....understandable as with the AEG scandal.
Nitro is right though. It will still be a great card at the price. I dont really think Nvidia can afford to put another card out at the price of the 512 GTX.

If this rumour is true then it's basically a $499 7800GTX 512MB. Not that impressive nor worth waiting a bunch of time for... IMO X1900 is more impressive tech at the moment, until both companies release their next gens.

Both the GTX and GT version will be released on 9th of March 2006, being inmediately available on stores.

The 7900 GTX:
Will be released with 256Mb and 512Mb of Ram.
CORE: 90nm, range from 650 Mhz to 750Mhz, not confirmed yet, only nVIDIA knows.
Pipelines: 32 Pixel Pipelines
RAM: Samsung GDDR3 1.1ns chips clocked at a range of 800-900 Mhz, so 1600 to 1800 Mhz effective.
The 7900 GT:
Will be released with 256Mb of Ram.
The PCB layout is different from the 7800GT and the PWM area is slightly different too.
CORE: 90nm, clocked at about 450Mhz.
Pipelines: 24 Pixel Pipelines
RAM: Samsung GDDR3 1.4ns chips, 700Mhz possible, so 1200 to 1400 Mhz effective.

From this specs I think the new 7900 GT will be very similar, if not identical, to a slightly overclocked 256Mb 7800GTX.

What websites? If Nvidia gave them a preview, they would be under a NDA and couldn't disclose that information. Just like Anandtech

The guys at www.mvktech.net had a preview on the 7900GT and very reliable info from nvidia relative to the GTX, but the nvidia stuff did not reveal the actual core/memory speeds.

Well, nothing there now. If there was anything, is have been removed. Basically, the mvktech site you name has the same 24 pipe Die shrunk G70 info. There is an article link to AMDzone that is supposed to preview the 7900XTX512, but it does not give any "definate" specs. So nothing there.

This is really looking like R520 all over again, right around the time of your opponents release rumors surface that you're card will be a monster then as we get closer to launch new rumors surface that the card won't be all it was supposed to be the only thing that could make this more complete would be if G71 got delayed for a couple months.

The info I am talking about is in the forums, MAVKE revealed that he had a preview of the 7900GT thanks to the nvidia crew and gave him some info about the GTX likely specs, that's all. I believe him, he's not a cheap liar.

That preview is just a reference to this AMDZone article which is just speculation. No one every got a preview of the card by Nvidia.

I really hope this new GTX is 32 pipes. I'm planning to get one of these when it comes out, but if it's only 24 pipes I doubt it would be fast enough to be worth the upgrade.

Again, that depends on how you look at it... If the MSRP is $499, than the street price will be closer to $400 fairly soon after launch... An $800ish SLI set that stomps a single $600ish X1900XTX doesn't look too bad from my perspective (since I already own an SLI mobo). It all depends on your perspective and what you currently own.

Please provide links to the forum threads. Looking at the forums, I found only these two threads and they're just references to vr-zone speculation articles.

http://www.mvktech.net/component/option...Itemid,34/func,view/id,31971/catid,10/
http://www.mvktech.net/component/option...Itemid,34/func,view/id,31870/catid,10/

The first link contains, as you have already read, only speculation. However, the second one, says; "We have seen"...etc, that proves they had it to preview it, they even tell us the Samsung ram chips' model: K4J55323QG-BC14. I do believe them.
Why would not you believe them since nVIDIA has already developed and produced every single 7900 GTX/GT card for their launch in March???

I recognise my fault, it was not mvktech.net's own info, it was from VR-ZONE posted by mvktech's administrator Mavke, sorry for that.

Expecting a $100 price drop so soon is wishful thinking IMO keeping in mind they are going to launch the 7900GT as well.

Besides if you heard Nvidia's recent conf. call, they will try to keep the same profit margins as with the 7800 series.

This is the vr-zone preview, word for word:
"We have seen the GeForce 7900 GT card already and we can say that the PCB layout is different from the current 7800GT card. The PWM area is slightly different too. The GeForce 7900 GT card comes with 256MB of K4J55323QG-BC14 GDDR3 memories from Samsung which has an effective data rate of 700MHz so a good guess will be 1.2GHz memory clock for the 7900 GT. We will eagerly wait for the launch in March during CeBIT."

Do you think they would have written more if they actually had previewed it themselves? The part number is just the part number for that particular memory. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.

Everybody (specialized webs) says they will be released in early March during CeBIT.
7800GT prices will drop, but I don't know how much. The 7800GTX price will still be rather high, I think its price won't drop as quick as the 7800 GT's since the 7900GT will be very likely a slightly overclocked 7800GTX.
But, who knows 100% yet....
