Yeah I think SLI was functioning, just the CPU was holding it back badly. I don't expect the G71 to be anything special anyhow, I don't see why anyone else here does. The 7900 GT will essentially be a 7800 GTX on 90nm and the 7900 GTX will be a 512 GTX on 90 nm. With ATi's new price drops, I don't think nVidia has anything on ATi at this point aside from duo 7900 GTX and quad SLI but that only matters to a very tiny fraction of the market anyway.
Ya, I'm not expecting amazing feats of video card power from the new 7900 series, if rumor is true that is. Hopefully they'll oc like crazy though.

You know I've been thinking about this the past few days and I realize that the chances of the 7900 GT having good ram are pretty low given it's price point. Furthermore, with the lack of software voltage controls for G70/G71, they'll probably top out sooner than X1900 cards on water or air.

Why would Sli not be working??? A single 7900GT won't be able to score 8580 with a 1.8 CPU in 05 if you go by the rumored specs. Sli is probably working but highly limited by the CPU, in this case, thus marginal gains.
thats exactly what i said 2nd/3rd post in. as usual the ATI crew ignore it, when it is the very likey cause of the low score. ive witnessed myself nearly 2000 mark increase just from a 600Mhz oc on the cpu.
its either the cpu holding it back
or the drivers they used are quite set up for 7900 series in SLI. which makes sense since the cards arent acutally out yet
