7900GT SLI vs my X1900XT(@XTX)
2425 vs 2422
2770 vs 2740
so ya, it barely edges out my XT@XTX speeds but this explains pretty well why nVidia is offering these cards as such low prices.
Read the whole thread, it is 1 single 7900GT vs. your X1900XT:
WRONG You MORON!
"the scores were this:
7900GT SLI -- 3dmark 2003 >>>23340 all default @CPU 1800Mhz /VGA default
7900GT --3dmark 2005 >>> 8580 (only get single 7900 score maybe drivers issue) all default @CPU a 1800Mhz //VGA default
7900GT --3dmark 2006 >> 4635 (only get single 7900 score maybe drivers issue) all default @CPU a 1800MHZ //VGA default"
I'm going to get a little bit nasty here becuase I happen to be in a BAD mood.
It's SLI scores
GEEEZE, Next time why don't YOU TAKE A CLOSER LOOK at the PICTURE!
</flame>
Now let me opologise for having offended you. Just next time, please don't go around posting FUD like that. That sorta gets my Irish up.
Edit: For the record, I expect the 7900GT's to have a little better performance than they do in the SM2.0 @ SM3.0 scores in 3dmark06 once they are benched on a decent rig.

Its got to be 7800gts. When I first got my 7800gts I scored around that. When I upped my proccessor from 1.8 to 2.4 I got around 11,000.

LOL, then how hard is it to type two little letters? Li Ouch my fingers are all worn out.
8500 or better sounds about right for the 7900GT (single card). Probably be closer to 9000 with better CPU.

Will someone with 7800GT/X SLI and a single core CPU please run 3dMark @ 1.8GHZ. That score sounds ridiculously low.
I call BS until someone with 7800GT/X SLI confirms that score with their single core CPU @ 1.8

Sounds like its the cpu holding it back.

Please read the thread before posting......... come on.

I guess I'm wondering how the guy posting the info knows that. I imagine he wouldn't have taken screenshots of the benchmarks and SLI enabled if he was certain that SLI was not working for '05 and '06. Is he just guessing that since the scores are low that SLI must not be enabled or does he have some more concrete evidence? That is not made clear in the post over at XS so it might be better to lay off yelling at people for assuming SLI is working.

Why would Sli not be working??? A single 7900GT won't be able to score 8580 with a 1.8 CPU in 05 if you go by the rumored specs. Sli is probably working but highly limited by the CPU, in this case, thus marginal gains.

thats exactly what i said 2nd/3rd post in. as usual the ATI crew ignore it, when it is the very likey cause of the low score. ive witnessed myself nearly 2000 mark increase just from a 600Mhz oc on the cpu.
its either the cpu holding it back
or the drivers they used are quite set up for 7900 series in SLI. which makes sense since the cards arent acutally out yet

I'd hope that even hardcore ATI guys would realize that 8500 is waaayyyy too low for SLI'd 7900GTs, at least when paired with a decent cpu.

It's kind of funny. Seems like every pre-release benchmark we see has problems and than everyone assumes the worst. Like when the guy over at HardOcp got an X1900XTX and was only getting ~9100 in 3DMark05. Lots of people screamed that the card was a piece of junk and than real benchmarks came out showing the contrary. Can't wait for the real benchmarks next week.

Yeah I think SLI was functioning, just the CPU was holding it back badly. I don't expect the G71 to be anything special anyhow, I don't see why anyone else here does. The 7900 GT will essentially be a 7800 GTX on 90nm and the 7900 GTX will be a 512 GTX on 90 nm. With ATi's new price drops, I don't think nVidia has anything on ATi at this point aside from duo 7900 GTX and quad SLI but that only matters to a very tiny fraction of the market anyway.
