No it's not normal lol.
I cant get mine to go past 60 degrees load OC'd to 560/1550.
On average my load is about 57 degrees.
So you must have very poor air flow.

use rivatuner to log your temp during gameplay

but to be honest, the highest temp your card will reach is achieved on running RTHDR

my sli gtx reached 60C max on the demo with all settings maxed out (16aa, detail map...etc..)

however, during gameplay, it never reaches 60C

sure about that? it seems that program only uses the 2d clocks.

Thats not the case with Nvidia cards. It does switch to 3d when running this, or any other 3d app in windowed mode. This can be verified by watching the clocks in Riva Tuner.

Now with the X1900s you are correct. You need to run it fullscreen for it to change over to 3d clocks. You can also watch the clocks in rivatuner *using the .ini hack*

How do you monitor your temps? Have you logged them and checked? If you leave a 3d app before you check temps it will go down drastically in seconds. So you need to log them or use a program like rthdribl that lets you monitor while running (or use two screens). Granted I have a low airflow setup designed for quiet operation and get the same results as he does. And you and I seem to get about the same overclocks (Well mine is slightly higher), so what do you use your lower temp for? Maybe you just enjoy the sound a lot of fans make?

I've found rthdribl to be the best in terms of heat stressing a video card. On every card I've owned since my 9800 Pro, it has cooked cards better than any games I've tried. The games that seem to get closest in terms of temps are F.E.A.R. and Oblivion in my experience.

Pretty good program. My evga 7900GTXs superclocked at 720core and 1822mem got to 50C with this program. Highest I have seen. Thanks

No, it's running 3D clocks. I've done tests on this. I compared my card at 500 core vs. 690 core and I get significantly higher FPS at 690 core vs. 500 core.

it defiantely runs 3D clock speeds, if you run Rivatuner next to it you will see the core speed jump from 2D to 3D speed.

Yep i can confirm that to be the case (well for nvidia as i only have nvidia cards), the speed of the card jumps to 3D clocks as soon as i run the prog. In fact this prog stresses ur card like nothing else, i use it to find max temps cause in games u dont get temps as high. (although it does not stress the ram of the card i dont think.
