I'm dying to know aswell, as I'm picking either a 7900 GTX or a X1900 XTX/XT tomorrow.
Should have it friday for the testing.

In all honesty, I think if the X1900 sported the GTX 512mb heatsink, the performance would be alot better still.
Not to mention OC's. I bet if the X1900 XTX had the Quadro heatsink 700/820 would be a sinch on air cooling.
Perhaps even 720+/840+. I think ATI's heatsinks let them down.

I bought an x1900xt from newegg for $450 and should be in today. If the cooler is too loud in my rig then i'll put in an order for an Accelero X2 -- anyone have any experience with it?

Yeah I'm out of the hunt also. Just bought the 1800XT from CompUSA in the Hot Deals section.

$320 shipped!!(after $50 MIR + tax).:D

But now no suspense tonight at midnight/next morning to debate on the 7900GT.:frown:

Edit- from past AT history- My guess is 9-10 AM on Thursday.

Yeah It was bitter-sweet when I bought my x1900xt -- nice to have an awesome deal on the card, sad cos whatever the benches for the 7900GTX are, they dont matter to me. Anti-Climax?

I'm afraid the 7900 will be a let down.. from some of the unofficial 3dmark scores I've seen, they perform just like an overclocked 7800. Now, if you OC the 7900 you will probably get more performance than the OC'd 7800, and what I want to know is how much... so with that said I hope they OC the 7900 in their tests and report benchmarks with it.

700/820 is easy on air cooling with the XTX, there's guys that are reaching 740/840+ using the standard cooler. Problem is the fan noise when attempting high OC's.

This is what i thought too, but using the ATI Control panel OC system, even at 690/800 I started getting weird anomolies and crashes on COD2. never any artifacts, but weird things like soldiers stood up right and frozen, and the game freezing on me after intensive play. Do you think using ATI Tool would change things with the manual voltage control up to 1.4v?

Honestly I just don't think you know how to OC properly. :) I thought I told you how via PM?

Lol, you did, but I just couldnt be bothered to use ATI tool just yet :p
It's notlike the performance is lacking with these cards.

I just thought I'd try the ATI official OC tool first (in control panel) but I will eventually get round to using ATI Tool.

i'm interested in the 7900GT scores. I want to know if I should be kicking myself for getting the x1800xt for 300 if the 7900GT performs better for a similar price.

The 7900GT (considering it is slightly faster than the 7800GTX, PROBABLY) will not be faster than the X1800XT, and also won't have HDR + AA.

My thoughts exactly....Did we get "the deal of the century" or just an OK card for a decent price.

Edit to above poster- true and also 512MB of ram versus 256MB of ram. May help in some future games(and COD 2 now).

Definitely interested myself. Although I just recently a evga 7800gt co se that runs at 470mhz for $240AR. I dont plan on upgrading soon, unless the 7900 had twice the fps for a similar price. :p

Lousy editing... already found two errors in the AT article.

Very first sentence in the article...
"Today marks the launch of NVIDIA's newest graphics cards: the 7900 GTX, 7900 GT and the 7900 GT."
Department of Redundancy Department

Reversed bits...
NVIDIA Graphics Card Specifications
7600GT 256 bit
6800GS 128 bit
