Feast your eyes.

EDIT: I just realized... the 3DMark05 SLI score isn't what I expected... A bit low actually.
*EDIT: =D

Nice. It doesn't get any faster than that. Thanks for the link. No benchmark for Battlefield 2 though?

Those benchies of the single card conflict with AT benchmarks which show the 7800GTX 512 winning every benchmark.

I'm still not impressed by the performance of SLi with 512MB GTX's. Actually I'm more impressed to see how well the X1800 XT still stands well enough compared to it.

The X1800XT manages to maintain a 30+ (39) maximum frames-per-second in F.E.A.R, at 1600 x 1200, with 4xAA & 8xAF ? On stock speeds, single card ? That is impressive to me. And the "super high-end SLi 512MB GTX" setup only gets abour 20 more frames on the same setting ? No thanks. Especially not at its price.

And I could pick up any games on that review as well and say pretty much the same thing.

Don't get me wrong here. The 512MB GTX is indeed, technically, a fast card. But I could get you wrong. It's not worth it at the moment. And will be even less so in a few months.

I'm happy with my GTX 256MB, it was the best thing I ever bought, PC-related, and I will always say it, until something better comes out.

And, no, a few tweaks and frequencies on steroids won't make me buy.

yup the 7800 GTX 256MB card is definitely the card to get right now IMHO. it offers the best price/performance ratio of all the high-end cards. Lower power output, less noise, killer performance in today's games, relatively decent price.

20 more frames is a lot!
the difference in frames b/t the the 256mb gtx and x1800 xt is less than 10 a lot of the times
and their price difference is quite a lot too

20 frames is a lot but is it worth paying $900 more to get them?

The price on the X1800XT is falling pretty quickly actually and is pretty close in price to the 256MB 7800GTX. Someone in another thread linked to a Sapphire card going for $510.

Well this pretty much sums up my sentiments on the 7800GTX 512MB with and without SLI: great performance but not worth the money. It's the fastest thing around, for sure. But for $700- $1400, I think I'll pass ;) .

You forgetting something. The cards are very CPU limited even for a 512mb GTX. Especially when you have test a SLi GTX 512mb, its going to not perform at its full potential. However i agree, that the 512mb GTX is the WORST BANG PER BUCK card right now.

In HL2 they're cpu limited, but the single 512gtx is certainly not cpu limited in any other of those games, especially with AA+AF enabled.
