7800GTX 512 in SLI > XBox 360?

sorry to break it too you cowboy but he's telling it like it is. and i have done my reserch, xbox 360 is like a man with no arms when it comes to gtx 7800 it just cant hang. in fact some benchmark test r saying it may beat out ps3's RSX, some say other(which is strange as seeing the ps3 isnt even out yet). but all agree it slaps down 360, hands down.

EDIT: but to me i would take the console over the pc just because they release like 70 million more games, and they dont crash ever. But alas no mods 🙁(

aside from playing cod2 on both and laughing at how crappy the graphics were on the xbox360 compared to my pc, i'd have to ask you to prove that the xbox360's gpu is better than the 7800gtx...

EDIT: read this... knowing full well that the ps3 has 2x the gpu power that the xbox360 does

Okay, specs-wise? Xenon, X360's GPU, is basically an R520 (don't quote me on that) with revamped shader pipelines, and with a secondary smaller core for anti-aliasing. The entire system only has 512MB memory, shared between the system and the GPU.

It's a powerful system, no doubt, and innovative as well. But it doesn't match up to an SLi 7800GTX.

ATi's R480 is now better then ATi's R600 because the long outdated one is in the PC......

It is sad how ignorant the PC fanboys in this thread are. It's stupifying. Back to playing on my sadly outdated PS2 for some DQ8- too bad the 'vastly superior' PC hasn't had an RPG that comes remotely close for years.
 
PC = Better than 360
360 = Cheaper than PC.

The PC quoted in the title is bound to be better than the 360. It's also bound to be twice, three times the price.

the "anti console PC fanboys" in general are far less knowledgable than any nVidiot or fanATIc . . . they figure if they spend 3 times more it should be 3 times better . . .

doesn't work that way . . . console gfx will continue to surpass the very best PC gaming graphics - not demos - for at least another couple of years . . .

. . . and this is coming from someone who hasn't had a console in years - i used to argue the PC side. . . . as soon as the PS3 is released . . . i'll decide on which system to get to set ALONGside my PC . . . my x850xt should be good for that same couple of years until PC gfx [finally] DO surpass it and then i'll do the PC "makeover" [for BIG bucks].

Since the 360 "can't hang" and "isn't comparable", it should be VERY EASY to find several games that look better. Right? 😉

Granted FN3 looks really nice. But 360's are all he same spec, give or take the minute changes between generations. I would, if I gamed much, take a 360 over a PC setup that could be better than the 360, simply because it's a cheaper method of getting to a good looking game, without the hassel too.

Unfortuantly, I lack the money to do that, and the motivation to do so, due to a huge lack of gaming interest for the 360's games, and the last three years of PC games.

Prey looks awesome not only in graphics but gameplay. Cant wait for that game either.

 
isn't Gears of War running on the Unreal3 engine? From what I've seen of Gears of War, it looked awesome and the 360 seemed to handle it pretty well from the footage on IGN.

I too am looking forward to both of those games. What are their release guesstimates, anyway? I couldn't seem to find any info.

October 14, 1998 - 3D Realms' upcoming action game Prey has lost its lead designer and lead engine programmer, the company confirmed this week...

But whatever the release date, it seems that Prey is earning the tag 'oft-delayed', as the first tech demo was shown to the media in December, 1995.

Idont know what to say???? i mean it still doesnt mean that the xbox360 is better than a nice rig, just means that pc game makers need to get off there @$$ and start making the same games for pc as for the consoles, and no cheap version either.

still can't hang in the PC realm(gtx 7800 and higher) but when it comes to bad ass games that r available xbox will have more titles
 
doesn't the xbox have like 3 core ibm processors? wouldn't that make a big difference over a dual core amd running 7800gtx 512 alone or sli? i wanna see modded xbox running bf2 for pc sometime this year.

One small thing... its easy to crank the details (poly count/ texture) way up when you have 2 models on the screen.... Fight night is not a good example, however, COD2 is limited by the 512MB of total memory on the console, so it does in fact look better on SLI.

They both have their own place, but the 360 is certainly not "leaps and bounds" ahead of the PC, even right now.

its a triple core processor, but each core is significantly less powerful than a high end Intel or AMD dual core.
