Hehe. You assume because the 7800 launch was this way that every launch for Nvidia is going to be the same from now to forever. You have too much blind faith in Nvidia. I predict that these cards will be in limited supply since they need to speed-bin to get chips that clock this high. Doesn't matter though really, because not too many people are gonna be willing to pay $600-650 for a video card anyways.
ok, I stopped reading the thread there, sorry if this has been covered in later posts, but...
You're dead wrong about people not paying $600 for a video card. Several baord members here have already proving they are willing to pay $600 for an X1800XT, so why would people not spend that on a card that is going to obliterate the X1800XT?
I believe these cards will be readily available and will come down in price at the same rate of all of Nvidia's other flagship products. Why would you think not? Just because ATI has had problems? I think Nvidia has already proved that they are not having ANY of the problems ATI is having/had. This card is for sure a respin of the G70 process which means more maturity and better yields. I know that because if it isn't and these cards really are speed binned, then Nvidia will have lost all of it's PR ammunition against ATI. It would make more sense for Nvidia to have NOT launched the 7800U at all if it were gonna get blasted for the same reasons ATI has. That being said, expect a decent overclock on G71.
Your fanboyism is showing a little tonight eh?
PS. Once G71 pushes the GTX and GT prices down, ATI will really be screw jobbed because everyone sitting on a mid-range card, including myself, will have a field day with a sub-$300 7800GT. What is ATI going to have in that price range?
