The thing is that the 780 can overclock by more than 10% on reference, while the reference 290X will just throttle inside most cases unless you make it sound like a fleet of jets taking off. It's really no contest here, and with how bad it is I don't think we'll ever see good overclocking on air with this card.

Yes but that 10% difference is with 290X throttle. With an aftermarket cooler and new drivers (they said 10% improvement in the next drivers) there should be no contest. Plus 290X can OC too.

I think it was [H] who reviewed the card with 100% fan speed and it was about 10% faster than with standard fan setting.

That cooler is a POS. On water it runs at about the same temps as a 780ti/titan so it's not that the card outputs too much heat as much as the cooler is that bad.

Well TPU tested quite a few games and in uber it's over 10% average (quiet was ~7% iirc and uber 13%).

So, you have to pay up to 20% extra for 5% more performance than the 780. That's really not a great deal. Nvidia won this round. I really hate it because it might be the beginning of AMD always being behind in GPUs like they are with CPUs. Hopefully they can find a way to compete on 20nm.

You are missing the point. Aftermarket coolers will allow the 290X to overclock far more easily and thus increasing the margin of victory to be higher than 10% if not more. The other thing is based on what has been seen the 290X Scales extremely well with overclocking. I guess we will wait and see how the AIB cards overclock.

We're discussing the driver, not Uber vs Silent mode.

Their card is exclusively DX11.0 , it is not 11.1 , let alone 11.2.

That isn't a balanced representation. There are quite a few features in 11.1 that are not gaming related. The lack of support for those features doesn't hinder a game from using the other 11.1 features that game related and are implemented in hardware. 11.2 is just a software update by the looks of things, the cards have to implement it but they don't need dedicated hardware in order to support those features. Even AMD is saying they will be adding it in a future driver.

So while 11.1 isn't fully supported by Nvidia that isn't really relevant from a gaming perspective. So far we have literally zero games that show any problems with that lacking support. When and if we start seeing IQ differences or missing effects on Nvidia's hardware then quite rightly then we need to be concerned, but so far everything Nvidia has claimed about their support has resulted in their games looking the same as the competition, there seems to be nothing missing that anyone has noticed.

AMD only need drivers because they preventively implemented
DX11.2 related functions in their hardware wich is not the case
of Nvidia otherwise they would have said the same , isnt it..?..

Would you expect Nvidia to say otherwise , that their hardware
is slightly outdated DX11.2 wise..???

As long as there is no proof that DX11.1/2 gives AMD cards an advantage, this point is moot. If and when there is, things change. Until then...checklist feature.
