780 ti vs 290x

I initially thought the 780ti was a no brainier, for $150 more the speeds are speculated to be comparable and without question the ti would run cooler and use less power thus giving it superior overclockability. I'm just speaking stock air. I'm too lazy any more to go sub zero or water (I'm getting too old).

Then I was made aware that the nvidia card would only offer dx 11.0 or 11.1 but only amd would offer the full 11.2. Is this true?

I just bought a whole new rig and am deciding on video. What are your guys thoughts on those points?

Partial 11.1 fully 11.2 I believe.

Nvidia seems to support the performance relevant aspects of 11.1

I don't think that DX 11.2 should make a difference any time soon. Superior overclockability is debatable and luck of the draw. If you want a no fuss, great performing card with stock cooler, I'd stick with a 780Ti.

11.2 is not a big deal. Other things are more important in deciding which card you'd rather go with.

The game I'm playing currently is Batman, Arkham Origins. That game supports full 11.2 from what I saw in the options. I just don't want to be missing out on anything by going with the 780ti. That being said, it seems the ti will not only be comperable to the 290x in clocks but will probably be stock faster. The 780 wasn't fully enabled and them putting a $150 price tag above the 290x I'm imagining they know what they're doing. I'm just going to go tri sli 780ti I imagine.

GK110 have a 384bit memory controller, and the ideal configuration is 3 or 6 (same amount of memory per channel)... yet, it's possible to make a 384bit 4GB card, like Nvidia had 2GB 660 TI (192bit, ideally 1.5, 3, 6...)

So what does that leave you to speculate the ti will be the same as titan? I doubt they'd go any lower than 4 because of the 290x? Just curious what you think?

Batman is a TWIMTBP title, if you think AMD is going to produce better effects in such a poster child for Nvidia enhancement you are mistaken. Just take a look at the following:

Don't get me wrong the lack of full DX11.2 support in the NVidia cards is a concern, but they have implemented all the Direct3D relevant features (according to them) and so far we haven't found any significant IQ/performance issues with the lack of support.

Overclocked, even the 780 leaves the 290X choking on dust. I'd honestly say that, after the 780 price cut, the 290X just isn't worth buying for any reason other than Mantle.

Bright, no offense obviously but if it's a TWIMTBP title then why the dx 11.2 enhanced settings in the options menu when nvidia knowingly doesn't support 11.2? That part confuses me.

Im only seeing dx11 enhanced as maxed though, using a 7970.

Don't think so but the OP mentioned dx 11.2 in the AO settings so I went to check but their is only dx 11.

it says DX 11 so no idea where you are seeing DX 11.2

I stand corrected, I'm much less concerned about amd for 11.2. Especialy with all you guys pointed out about nvidia cards supporting key features in 11.2. I appreciate the input!

With proper cooling this statement about the 290x is so wrong its not even funny. Have a look at the overclockers.net forum post.
The 290X has almost (not perfect) scaling with overclocking. Blackened has more info on it I believe. Making a statement that the 290X chokes makes me chuckle.

I would imagine that 11.2 would build on 11.1 and if you are missing 11.1 features...

Their card is exclusively DX11.0 , it is not 11.1 , let alone 11.2.

From the start Nvidia is doing some deception by stating
that it s 11.1 compatible , well , the same way an old gen
card can play a 11.1 game while being only up to 10.1 capable...

Funny for a brand that claim producing the "most advanced
GPU....
