Both, but you will use the new features only with the Z270

How many new features will they block on Z170? I mean, would they block H.265 10-bit decoding just because of the chipset?

Well lets hope not geese, I can't afford to shell out another $349 bucks for another cpu so soon. as it is I need to get a motherboard like asap and as its looking that's going to run another $200-$300 bucks as well. 🙁 I am not made of money and I don't have that awesome money tree growing out back like most of you guys.Wish I did though 🙂 I just hope I don't regret buying into Z170 when I have a feeling there is going to be some majorly cool feature I am going to kick myself in the butt for not waiting for on the Z270 mobo's.

I think the KBL-X die is different (ie: the IGP is completely gone) but either way you can assume that the best KBL-X dies are going to hedge funds and the NSA, not to consumers.

I doubt it, it's more likely to be the same exact die with iGPU disabled.

Devil's Canyon was sold to enthusiasts on the promise of greatly improved TIM, not solder.

Did it have greatly improved TIM? According to tests the performance was exactly the same as the old TIM — poor.
