Looks like 8% faster than 6700K, after accounting for clock speed increase it looks like just another 3% tweak.

I think what will be actually interesting is if Kaby Lake will have better overclocking ability.
 
These will be Socket 1151 chips and should still work in existing Z170 boards, right? That graphic in the post above me shows something called "DHCP 2.2" or "DHCP 1.4" in the left column. This is the Dynamic Host Configuration networking protocol and should it not read "HDCP 1.4/2.2" for High Definition Content Protection? I'm not sure I trust that slide.
 
These mistakes happen in slides from time to time. It is actually quite funny that because of these little mistakes people call it fake. There is no reason for it, other Roadmaps did show us basically the same schedule. First wave of Kabylake with HDMI 1.4 are for 2+2 ULV.
 
Ok next question is when are Z270 motherboards coming out?? soon or not till spring time?I thought I heard some rumors that Z270 motherboards would start coming out next month or is that total BS?
 
I think that is BS. Latest I've heard is that these chips are set to launch with full availability at CES in January 2017 the first week of the month. You usually don't see any motherboards prior to the CPU launch but since the Z270 LGA1151 boards will support current chips we might see the motherboards sooner. It's usually better to launch both at the same time, however.

Wasn't this (k versions) renamed to Kabylake-X and delayed to Q2 2017? Eg. 6700k successor will only be available in Q2 2017 together with skylake-X (eg. HEDT) so it's probably end of June 2017...

Kaby Lake-X is a LGA2066 part. 7700K is a LGA1151 part.

So what will be the difference between the S1151 KL 7700K and the S2066 KL "7700X"? Same chip? Same number of cores? Same number of threads? Same amount of cache? Will one support quad channel? Higher TDP? I don't get what they're trying to do here...
 
Im confused between Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X. What is exactly Kaby Lake-X? It has only 4 cores+ht...
Strange is also 13.75 MB cache for Skylake-X (seems for some L4 part?)
 
I'm expecting 4.5GHz base as minimum line for Kaby-X, also solder like all the HEDT line, otherwise there wouldn't be a reason to wait six months when 7700K will be already 4.5 on some mobos with minimal tweaks, like when enabling turbo on all cores.
It's pretty obvious that they are going for something like the FX-9000 series and trying to squeeze every MHz out of the process, so it may reach 5GHz but stop dead there unless you go on water or crazy volts.

That's very interesting indeed, maybe the quad core has an L4 too? It wouldn't be hard to fit under the larger heat spreader...

Yeah, and if you look at it from a biz perspective, Intel has every incentive to produce a product that they can charge more for on the HEDT line. Motherboard makers probably happy to be able to sell higher ASP/higher margin HEDT boards to customers, too.

Also, once Intel has sold customers their first "hit" on HEDT with a high performance quad core, they may be tempted to upgrade down the line to a higher core count product. Not only does Intel make more money from selling that initial, hyper-clocked KBL-X, but it could very well rake in additional cash from people upgrading CPUs on the same platform.

This is a very good strategy and I'm actually feeling kinda dumb for not thinking of it myself. I thought Intel might just phase out mainstream altogether for enthusiasts and only sell Xeon-derived parts to said enthusiasts. Didn't think of taking a mainstream die and putting it into an LGA-2066 package!

Thanks, Just asking cause I bought a 6700k like 2 weeks ago and its still just sitting on my desk still sealed and unopened collecting dust. I was thinking of returning it in favor of a 7700k and a Z270 motherboard if they are really coming out in October as I still have yet to purchase a motherboard and Memory. I had one or two picked out but never pulled the trigger. Not sure what to do here..?? Either get the Gigabyte Gaming 7 or Gigabyte UD3 Ultra or ditch Z170 all together and go Z270??

Honestly, don't bother. 7700K isn't coming until January, and Z170 will support both Skylake and Kabylake. Just enjoy your new gear dude, there's always something better coming around the corner. Can't wait forever.
