The hilarious thing to me is that a majority of the people who rip on Bonds know absolutely nothing about him.

And you would know that how?

To rehash some information that everybody already knows:

The first 12 years of his career he averaged a home run every 16.1 at-bats.
Once he turned 35, that ratio was 1:8.9.

Oh, and his cap size went up (would have gone up even more had he not shaved his head) and his shoe size increased by 2.5 sizes IN HIS 30'S.

Maybe I don't know as much as you do, but I know as much as I need to know.

Bonds is a cheater.

Prove it.

Go Bonds!

Still believe in Santa Claus?

Don't have anything else?

Can someone please explain to me what this * business is about?

Is it that * = Star which sort of sounds like 'Star-oids'? Or am I way off base (pun intended)?

It's a caveat. An explanation of extenuating or non-standard circumstances. They did the same thing to Roger Maris.

Edit: Speaking of Roger Maris, were there steroid accusations surrounding his record? I mean, he averaged one homer in every 21 at-bats for his entire career besides 1961, compared to 9.67 in 1961.

It's trendy and cool to hate Barry Bonds. Just like it's trendy and cool to like certain athletes ond celebrities no matter what they do. Most of these people probably have IPHONES and IPODS also. See where I am headed?

The * bullsh!t comes from the fact some people think their should be an asterisk next to his name in the record books because some people accuse him of taking steroids. Most people are just jealous because their favorite player isn't nearly as good as Barry (the home run king) Bonds.

you're an idiot...none of those "hitting records" involved hitting anywhere near 50, 60, or 70 hr in a season until he started using the cream & the clear
There is more to baseball than homeruns. The only idiot talking here is you. Look up the stats before you start spewing the crap.

Huh? Before he started to use roids he was great player but wasn't setting any records(home run/batting titles). He was a 30 home run / 30 steal / 300 average / gold glove left fielder. Only after gaining 50 pounds did he become a 40+ home run / .370 average hitter.
Have you actually looked at the stats, or are you going to just talk out of your ass? Saying he hasn't set any records "before the roids" is a ridiculously ignorant statement. He had quite a few 40 hr seasons and many just below 40. He has also hovered around a .300 ba for most of his career. What do you think would happen if any outstanding player put on 50 lbs of bulk? The amount of mass they put on doesn't have that much to do with the actual ability to hit the ball. Have you never seen a person, not only an athlete, get older and get serious about health and actually bulk up?

You both have the ability to go to wiki and look up Bonds' stats, so go do it.

Sure, Bonds was smaller when he was younger, but who wasn't? Babe Ruth was thin as a rail in his youth like bonds, then he got bigger and fatter, imagine if he actually was an athlete and not a drunk.

Always remember, if something happens that you just don't want to believe, you will always find reasons not to believe it.

The pitcher had already given two hits up to him, what a moron for giving him something to hit.
sounds like the pitcher was trying to make it into the record books 😉

If it is so obvious to all you Bonds haters that his used steroids, why didn't the grand jury convict him and why didn't Bug Selig kick him out of the league. Do you all haters know more than the grand jury or the baseball commissioner? All the information you guys claim to have come from the media, and yeah we all know American media is unbiased and always 100% right.

Until Bonds is proven guilty, his achievement should be acknowledged.

This is the court of public opinion. You're innocent until accused.

Booo. Not Booooo-urns. Bonds is a cheating asshole and has demeaned the record book the same way he demeans every game he plays in.

Sorry, but even if he DID do steroids, steroids don't help you hit a baseball.

And strength has nothing to do with how hard you can hit a baseball?

Yeah, but if more strength makes you hit the ball further that would kind of be an advantage, dontcha think?

Most ignorant statement ever.

Steroids don't help your hand/eye coordination bring the bat around to make contact with the ball, true. What they do is bring the bat around faster and with more power thus converting doubles into Home Runs.

They didn't help him hit the ball. They helped him hit it further.

Strength has little to do with hitting a ball 400+ feet. If it did, body builders would be playing MLB instead of oiling their bodies every weekend.

Someone take a look at the graphic on the frontpage. Could you get a screenshot of the *?

A friend and I are arguing about whether SI did this on purpose. I say nay, he disagrees.

Anyone have an idea? That's a whole lotta balls on SI's part if it's on purpose, no?
Also the grays don't match - look closely at the oval.

You think they did that on accident? Of course it was on purpose.
