I used to love drawing crazy zombie invasions, where it was basically snapshots of me and a hand gun vs. 1000's of zombies.

I imagine the zero tolerance policy probably would have had me euthanized for those pics

Kids can't draw stick figures with guns at school, while Bush sends troops out to shoot things?

haha... get a whole bunch of kindergardeners to fill their backpacks with gun drawings and scatter them all over their schools. Everywhere. Teacher's purse, ontop of cars, ...hell, a gun graffiti on the school itself. On the gym floor. Gun wallpapers on computers.

How to pull that off...

Everyone would run around for five minutes like chickens with their heads cut off and then it would be back to class as usual. :Q

I'd frequently draw things like power poles falling over during a storm in a shopping center with a 7.2kV line in a puddle with people holding shopping carts with their hair catching on fire. Or planes on the ground broken in half burning, etc. I never did get into horror but could have I suppose. ;)

Ok, maybe they would have suspended you and sent you to a psychologist. :D

So you're on a cruise liner - what do you do now, imagine a fire breaking out onboard, and everyone tries to jump ship, only to discover that the fire has attracted a lot of male sharks in the middle of mating season. The male sharks, in their testosterone-crazed frenzy, rip everyone to peaces, and the waves slosh the blood against the ship. All the death causes it to change its name from Dawn to Dusk.
Then you wake up, and get back to work.

Heaven help us when/if these kindergartners grow up and serve in the military. We'll have to add years onto the basic training programs to unpussify them

That's really understandable though, as a biker I know if somebody came along and converted my aluminum frame to steel with their magical outer-space hands it would significantly affect my cycling.

HAHA nice.

I think this may have been mentioned before in a thread about a similar story, but do schools no longer teach about wars in history class? do our current school childre know nothing about the Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc?

Is this zero tolerance only for guns? What about other weapons like swords, bombs, etc?

Has the school pulled all books with any reference to weapons from their libraries?

We can't have that shit polluting our children's minds.
Does it even really help when Johnny goes home from school and watches the nightly news or Kill Bill or plays Halo 3 on his Xbox?

You guys are stupid. You really buy that he drew a water pistol? have you EVER drawn a picture of somebody shooting a water pistol?

And the fact that he gave it to some other kid? Why? As a valentine? Or as a veiled threat? You don't know. I don't know. But the facts as we've seen them presented, could very well lead to the conclusion that this kid may have some violent tendencies that I'd want his parents to sit down and consider....ESPECIALLY at this age.

Oh, I forgot. Every kid that draws guns is a potential KILLER!!!

I drew guns and shit all the time when I was kid. Why? B/C I watched fucking GI Joe and Transformers and it was cool as hell!!!!

America is too fucking scared for its own good these days, so they over police. Like I said above, Columbine and 9/11 have made for some scared shitless Americans. Fuck the war on terror, we need a war on mindless, numbnut, jump to conclusions assholes that are scared of their own shadows.

I recently read the piece on Colin Powell in the October issue of GQ Magazine. He said it best:

We are taking too much counsel of our fears...

Yes, there are a few dangerous nuts in Brooklyn and New Jersey who want to blow up Kennedy Airport and Fort Dix. These are dangerous criminals, and we must deal with them. But come on, this is not a threat to our survival! The only thing that can really destroy us is us. We shouldn't do it to ourselves, and we shouldn't use fear for political purposes -- scaring people to death to they will vote for you, or scaring people to death so that we create a terror-industrial complex.

You are perfectly typical of what I described. It's not what he drew. He gave the picture to some other kid. That's the key part. His motivation for doing to is the key. Maybe he thought it was a fine work of art, this stick figure drawing......maybe it was a love note......who knows. But if it WAS a threat of any kind, then, yes, he needed to be suspended.

It doesn't matter that the gave the picture to another kid. Elementary kids have been suspended BEFORE for simply drawing a "stick figure with a gun" in class or making "guns with their fingers" and going "Pee-ow, pee-ow."

There doesn't have to be transference to trigger a suspension anymore these days. They do it at the drop of a hat.

Are you shitting me? It's a 7 year old child. You probably drew guns, explosions and other violent stuff when you were a child. For that matter, what little boy DOESN'T like a little violence? He probably drew the gun because he saw it on Power Rangers or some shit, not because he's a psychopathic killer or something at SEVEN YEARS OF AGE.
