It's been unseasonably warm outside Chicago so far this winter. Was a high of 55*F yesterday with nothing but rain all day. Well, last night the wife complained that the computers were putting out too much heat and they have never been that hot before. I was asked why.
It was 78*F in the house. I thought the air conditioner was going to turn on. Couldn't open the windows because of the rain. For what it's worth, my heat has not turned on yet this winter.
I didn't really want to get into a discussion that last winter we only had 8 cores folding, and this year we have 20. Oh, and the so called silent 19.1db-A cooler master 120mm case fans are anything but silent. 2 of my machines sound like vacuum cleaners. Got 'yelled at' for that as well.
At least there is no rain today so I can keep the windows open to get the temp down to about 70*F. Or at least that is my goal.

My wife tracked me down and said "the HTPC won't stay asleep" with that tone that said "it should be asleep and not using power." I pointed out that it is helping defeat cancer and all sorts of malladies (it is an x4 currently helping the TeAm get to 10M in Correlizer.) She wasn't very amused but I promised it was only for a while. There is some truth to that, the HTPC is highly visible and its wimpy stock cooler whines at 100% load for any extended length of time.

The PCs in the basement garner no comments - but the basement has been staying nicer this year so far 😀

Like i said first time doing this in general, how should a i5 oc'ed to 3.7 do. Also i have 2 5850's in crossfire. Can I run both the cpu and gpu client at the same time?

You shouldn't have an issue. I'm only familiar with nvidia based cards for folding, so someone else will have to offer advice.
I think the v7 client will let you run everything.

I have an i7 OCed to 3.8 and a 6950 at 900mhz core.

My PPD is MUCH better with just the SMP client as opposed to both SMP + GPU on v7.

I'm not using my 2x 5850s. Last I tried (beginning of the year) PPD went down with GPUs going. I've just got SMP folding.

I think part of the issue is that a GPU basically requires a CPU to crunch - and ATI is supposed to be even worse than nvidia in that regard. If it pushes out your SMP WU your bonus gets smaller...

The points are all from the bonus. On the boxes I have doing -bigadv units one is taking about 2 minutes longer per TPF and that is costing that box about 5k ppd because it takes just that couple hours longer to finish the WU.

Look at these stats! They are just wonderful - we have probably not lost a point!

The teams ahve produced more than 79% of the TeAm's total, which is very good!
Nemesis13, under which name do you crunch? I could not find you in the stats!

I managed to increased my PPD by another ~40,000-ish since the start of race. Unfortunately I think this is all I can muster short of buying new hardware.

Glad everyone else is back up, but what happened to mine?? Down 20k ppd? Yikes!

Don't bother with the ppd. That number is just now off - due to the stats-outage. Your points are just fine:

Dec. 09: 2 744 309
Dec. 10: 2 771 610 + 27 301 (compared to previous date)
Dec. 14: 2 776 936 + _5 326 (compared to previous date)
Dec. 15: 2 811 219 + 34 283 (compared to previous date)

Probably not all your points are in the stats yet! It will be all included ... 🙂

Was never worried at all :whiste:

That's quite impressive. I think last year, that was around my total PPD, with two GTX460s and four 9600GSO 96SP cards.

I can't imagine what your total PPD is.

I'm crunching PrimeGrid currently with my GPUs right now.

I haven't added any hardware per se compared to last year, other than the GTX460 cards are now in separate computers, and one of them got a case upgrade.
