6800GT and Dual Monitors

Okay, so I have a 6800GT and 2 Dell 2005FPWs.

I figured out horizontal span mode, so I got that under control as far as the desktop goes.

What I can't figure out, is how i can make Windows media player, or any media player for that matter, just go to fullscreen on one monitor.

What happens is that when I go to fullscreen, the program goes to fullscreen, but the video only shows the left half of the video on the left screen, I can't see the right side of the video.

The same kind of thing happens when I delete something, and a confirmation popup (click ok) comes up. Basically, I guess the video is trying to center itself in the middle of the "desktop". I want to be able to watch a fullscreen video on one screen, but be able to have something, like firefox, running on the other monitor.

Lastly, with one monitor, I can run Day of Defeat (a FPS i play) at 1600x1200. When I'm using 2 monitors I can only play at 1024x768. Fortunately at least, it plays on one monitor.

If you need any more specifics, please ask. Because of the 6800GT, one monitor is on a DVI connection, the other is on a VGA connection. The DVI connection for the other monitor is used by VOOM satellite (looks great, might i add).

Thanks for your help,

i didnt think the 2005FP was able to display 1600 X 1200 because of its native 1680 X 1050 res.

1024 X 768 is probably the highest res the monitor and the game have in common.
Maybe you can change something in the games settings so it will run at 1680 X 1050.

I have the same issues when running in horizontal span mode. It limited games to 1024x768, and when something went full screen on one monitor it shuts the other off. I switched to dualview mode and that seems to work better. I can run games in 1280x1024(the native res of my lcd's) again. Only real differance is the taskbar only shows up on one monitor. I also run a program called shiftwindow, allowing games to run in windowed mode but show as full screen. That way I can run a game on one monitor, and still do other things with the other.

I managed to find out how to get normal windows to go fullscreen only on one monitor, and how to get the taskbar onto one monitor through the nview desktop manager, but I can't defeat the windows media player issue yet. any ideas?

i considered it, but it's only a trial. i don't feel like paying $40ish for something that should be pretty easy to do if i could figure it out
