Pretty sure there was a promo code about two weeks ago that brought it down to $329, it didn't last long though. Saw it one evening, was gone the next morning.

I saw it going for $309 on ebay one time, and not a one-off used seller either.

Regardless, pretty cool. Only took 9 months!

I got mine at newegg for $335 with instant promo code not too long ago. I hope the 7700k is slower than the 6700k so I won't regret my retail purchase price of a one year old component. I heard stock clocks is at 3.6 with boost to 4.0 but I don't remember the performance.

FYI, I can't upgrade my CPU again for the next 5 years or so. Hopefully I hit the sweetspot but that 3.6 to 4.0 looks very clean at least numbers-wise.

Is that 7700K going to be Kabylake?

There's no way a 7700K will be slower than a 6700K.

So 6700K is only MSRP now while I enjoyed my 4790K for almost 2 years already? I think I got the better deal.

I was endlessly waiting for Skylake when the 4790K hit Microcenter's retail shelves for $250. Every man has a price. I am glad I didn't wait any longer.

Today, 16GB DDR4 3200 (TridentZ) costs $75. I bet early adopters of 6700K would have needed to pay $140-150 for that August-December of last year. Double hit.

Don't worry, Kabylake will be along shortly to jack the price back up :awe:

I doubt it, 14nm yields at Intel are pretty solid now, we won't see the availability issues w/ Kabylake that we saw with Skylake.

The "price jacking" will happen over on the HEDT platform. $1569 for a 10 core, anybody? :p
