Well we know now how they will bridge the long wait to Zen4 on AM5 Q4 2022.
Production start for V-cache is end this year so too early for Zen4 so this is certainly coming to AM4.
+15% Lisa said is "like an entire architectural generation"

If AMD is so money focused, they wouldn't sell an expensive CPU to consumers at consumer friendly prices. These V-cache dies failed their enterprise gauntlet of stability testing so they are repurposing them for a relatively easy performance win in games.

We don't actually know how many of these they are making, so it's hard to say what the total opportunity cost of these chips are. If they can compete with the 12900K, it's definitely at a lower price than AMD could charge. If these are good they will probably sell out fast and I don't think AMD will be overly keen on supplying too many more of them, particularly with Zen 4 around the corner.

I doubt these are failed enterprise dies. If they can run at these clock speeds, they can run at the lower speeds that the server chiplets are configured for. About the only way they could fail is being a "leaky" die that needs a higher voltage which isn't any issue with a gaming CPU. Any of the normal things that might otherwise fail are on the IO die.

Unbelievable, no way, this can't be!
Seriously, I'm very skeptical about this "world best gaming CPU". Sure, it'll perform exceptionally well in some cases, but not like this...
That's 52% Performance Boost over 12900K....

Do you remember how Cinebench scores did not matter when Zen was beating Intel At it? Well now 720P numbers will not matter(I mean they don't really, but they are used constantly to prove how Alder Lake is above Zen3) anymore

If the benchmarks that follow are as stellar as this, I'll be even poorer by the end of the month! :(
It's not like your 5800X is suddenly slower at 720P by like 60%... Oh wait..!

I need to plan my build. What's the cheapest most decent mini-ITX mobo that will accept 5800X3D?

These are for Poor people that are locked in with AM4. The Rich wait for AM5 and 4090 Ti

IF someone manages to OC that beast to 5 Ghz, we are getting into Ridicule FPS numbers here. Zen 4 is Supposed to beat this new King? Will his reign be that short?

Don't know what FPS they took though (in the OSD I note an average FPS of 244).

edit: and at the top there is some more benchmark-like info that puts it around 228 fps.

Just pointing this post out in case people missed the edit. The real comparison is

12900KS - 200 fps average
5800X3D - 228 fps average

So a 14% performance increase. Still impressive all things considered, but not the crazy amount you get if you take the number from the screenshot. Also, of course, additional testing needed.

It's going to be really fun to see the Power Consumption comparison between those two CPUs...!

I expect in some games the 5800X3D might be faster than Zen 4.

I think Zen 4 will be faster on average but I can see memory heavy games leaning to the V Cache chip.

I expect Zen 4 at 5Ghz(as they demoed it) to beat Zen3D by at least 10% in Gaming and up to 20% in Application performance.

There's nothing more to see, that image shows just the FPS at that moment during the benchmark.
Some say that the 1% lows seems a bit worse.
So Max FPS at 290 is there. 244 Average is MIGHTY Impressive, the lows might be due to BIO or something. Also look at Temperature and Wattage. 59C and 89 Watts....
