the Z06 can beat a ferrari f430 around a track and in the quarter mile. what do you think a lighter, more powerful vette will do?

edit: posting in all caps makes your statements all the more authoritative, yeah 😉

911 Turbo?! Sorry, no way you can justify a Chevy for $100K+

So what it can beat a Ferrari in speed. I would take the Ferrari over Chevy anytime of the day. You don't buy a car just for track.

Or I can get a BMW M3 for daily driver and get an Elise/ Atom for track.

Ferrari F430 = 3 corvette Z06's, FYI.

and while we're at it, why not buy a bike and an M5/RS6/S8?

You the one who brought up Ferrari, not me. So what the Chevy is fast? It has no style. It look exactly like the $50k Corvette. And the interior? Its a f**king joke.

911 Turbo, Aston V8, Jaguar XK, BMW M6, MB SL ? I take any of these over a Chevy at $120k. Hell, I'll take the M5 over it. At least the interior is semi decent.

I'd take a Ferrari over a Corvette any day of the week too, but on some days, I only have $120k in my wallet.

On those days, you are better off with those cars I listed. IMHO. Because those cars offer luxury and comfort that I don't think this Chevy will. Have we forgotten the arch enemy- the Viper?

Well, no wonder.

You listed off a bunch of GTs and you're comparing them to a pure sports car.

[Edit] Don't forget, the Cadillac CTS-V and STS-V are more luxurious and comfortable than the Corvette too.

I'm pretty sure those "GTs" are just as capable as a 600hp Vette. Like noone made a car with 600 hp before.

None, the new SRT 10 Viper is going to be one. So a big WOW I guess?

I guess 500 HP is too slow compare to a 600 HP vette, nor it is "sporty" enough.

My selling point is that you can get better car for the money. And 600 HP been done before. So I fail to see this is a big deal. Ohh, BUT there's no car that has 600 HP and sell for less - yet! A big WOW. Since the SRT 10 coming out soon. And those "GTs" are just as capable.

Its a test mule, the interior is prolly from a current model Z06, its not even close to what production will look like.

Chevy is sticking to a formula that works well for them:

More performance than anyone for the money; dash-strokers need not apply

Sure, they can aim for a different demographic, but it wouldn't make sense.

IIRC, the current vette is both lighter and quicker than the viper. a similarly powered, and presumably even lighter vette would beat out the new viper. of course, only real testing will tell 😛 just checked: current Z06 checks out at <3150lbs, latest viper is 3440lbs.

O wait, one more thing....NEITHER of these cars ARE in production yet. Not even a WOW. 😉

BTW, loved the original vette and the Z06. But I just failed to see how this going to compete in over $100k market.

hey, i said we have to wait until track tests for sure. but given that the current vette is lighter, and probably will get EVEN lighter with the SS (and have similar or > power than the viper), it is not unreasonable to suspect that the vette SS will beat out the new viper. as i said though, only true tests will tell 😛

Since the SRT 10 coming out soon. And those "GTs" are just as capable.

Just as capable at being GTs. And why is GT in quotes? Still googling for the acronym? 😉

There's no strict classification for a Gran Tourer. If there is, 911 turbo is definitely not one.

Veyron has how many HP?

Zonda, Koenigsegg, Porsche GT....yade yade yada

Z06 is 80k car and GM has no problem selling those. People will have no problem paying 100k for SS. The problem will be finding one for sale at 100k.

Well then, there are plenty of 600 HP cars been done before. No I didn't mention any being done cheaper than the Vette.

Yes, starts at 70k. You're going to end up around 78k after options and 84k after taxes.
