600hp for 100k, probably trapping at over 120 and running 10's stock

Once again proving there is no reason to buy a porsche

Spoken like somebody who has never even driven one. Spend 10 minutes in a Vette and 10 in a 911 and you'll find 1000 reasons why the Porsche is better. The Vette has lots of horsepower and nothing else. It's a crappy car to drive.

Nice, but 10's should translate into 130 mph traps.

And please STFU about the interior.

why? if we hate the interior we hate the interior...

it isn't a production car it is a test vehicle the interior will definately be different...and not look like ass.

Because it shows you haven't read the article, that's why. That's a test mule for the engine, not the actual car that will be selling for $100k.

raise your hand if you actually expect GM to make the interior much nicer than it currently is...

are they going to redesign the interior? or piece it together from parts used on other vehicles?

are they going to pick out new components (not just the seats) and make it not like any other C6 at all??

the corvettes have always had great engineering and crappy interiors. share some of that crack if you actually believe this is going to change.

oh, and i have read the article... and i still think it would be awesome to have one, even w/ a cheap interior.

Please go take a look at the kinds of interiors GM has been putting out in the last year and what they have coming out in a few years. I 100% guarantee a great interior for the next Corvette.

Because most 10 second cars don't really have an interior.

Because I find it very metro-sexual to hear someone drone on about the interior of a '70 Hemi Cuda.

Because I've never wondered how many cup holders are in a car that I would be scared to drive.

Because.

Please note that this discussion is about the engine for the 2009 Corvette SS model, and not about your stupid opinions of GM interiors. No one cares about that. If you want a plush interior for your $100k, go buy yourself an S-class. The Corvette SS is about kicking your ass down at the track, not coddling it.

wow, ok, you win, your e-penis is larger than mine. i'm sorry.

and where did i say anything about a plush interior? i just wouldn't want one that's not well designed/put together like the past corvettes have been.

and if it were completely about kicking your ass down the track, why have leather seats? why have all the other interior stuff? why not have an interior setup like a lotus? where is the roll cage? or at least the roll bar? where's the 5 point harness? does it come with r-compound tires? why does it even have a full interior?

relax man, i said it was a sweet ride still... and i said that they spend a ton of money on engineering for the engine/drivetrain, and if i didn't make it clear that i think they did a good job on it, here, i'm making it clear.

don't get your panties in a bunch.

i personally dont like corvettes/american cars, but this might actually be good.

cant wait to see top gear review it in the years to come!

Sweet, I wonder at what PSI the forced induction is running at. Also if they considered a rear-turbo set-up.

Oh yeah...too bad GM doesn't put as much engineering into the other 98% of the cars they build. Their trucks are great...but cars? Ew...

G6, GTO, Aura, Solstice, Cadillac - CTS - STS - Deville, and Lucerne are all very good cars!

yes, very good...

...if this was 1989.

LPE 600HP TT Upgrade $25,000

A lot of fun for a lot less money.

BTW, the SS won't be found for under $110k, probably around $120k if the market for the Z06 is any indication.
Nice!!

Edit: You know what, I might have to take that back. I don't see anywhere in that package that they include an upgraded braking system and upgraded suspension. I thought those refinements were all included with the Z06. So for $43K + $25K, you just get an engine upgrade. Correct?

If I could find a dealer that will let me get one at MSRP, I would send my deposit tomorrow. You can expect 25-50k markup from dealers after launch.

Seems like GM is supercharging the same 6.2L LS3 engine that's going be in regular 2008 C6. 2008 C6 should have around 425-450 hp.

edit: SS will have supercharged 6.2L LS9 engine. I wonder what the difference is between LS3 and LS9.

SO MANY BETTER CARS IN THE PRICE RANGE

......such as?

the Z06 can beat a ferrari f430 around a track and in the quarter mile. what do you think a lighter, more powerful vette will do?

edit: posting in all caps makes your statements all the more authoritative, yeah 😉

911 Turbo?! Sorry, no way you can justify a Chevy for $100K+

So what it can beat a Ferrari in speed. I would take the Ferrari over Chevy anytime of the day. You don't buy a car just for track.

Or I can get a BMW M3 for daily driver and get an Elise/ Atom for track.

Ferrari F430 = 3 corvette Z06's, FYI.

and while we're at it, why not buy a bike and an M5/RS6/S8?
