60-80mm fan adapter? 60-92mm fan adapter?

Most reviews seem to say that they don't work as well as the ear bustingly loud 60mm deltas, but they're reasonably close. If you want one to try and don't want to pay crazy prices, here's a place to get the 80/60 for $13.95 plus shipping:

I'd like to get near delta performance with much quieter operation. Should I get a 92mm or 80mm adapter? Also which fan should I get? Thanks!
 
I have a 92mm to 60mm one and as for the fan.....look at its CFM. The delta does 38CFM at 46Dba. So find a fan that does about 36+ CFM but with any luck is under 40Dda
 
You can get the fan adapter HERE for $13.00 and also pick up the Sanyo Denki 80x25 36.5CFM fan they have to go on it. As you can see the fan pumps out 36.5CFM and here's the bonus....low noise of only 29dba. I've dealt with this store several times and have always had a great experience, shipping is reasonable as well since they have a flat shipping rate of $5.
 
you can allways buil one yourself, all you need is a funnel that is big enought and 2 aluminum squares, and a drill and saw...

it is quite easy, as long as you got a good saw and an old pan. Or what worked for me is an flat pice of mettel, that I put on the bbq to heat it up... then you put the funnel on there, when it is not too hot, you don't wanna melt too fast... well it is fairly easy, after that, you need some strong stuff to stick the aluminum plates on there,,, I would try that what surfers use to repair their boards... well or just look around in your wall mart or home depot...

That worked for me, I was about to put a 120 mm fan on there, but no way, the case is too small...

I made a 60-80mm adapter from PVC plumbing fittings. I was able to buy a flange type collar, that fitted directly onto the fan and heatsink, I just had to drill holes and modify them a little. It works fine and cost next to nothing. There are many different types and sizes of fittings available and you can glue or tape them together.That is in Australia, and I assume you Yanks have the same stuff at the hardware shops.
Worth a try.
 
That ain't right chevelle396, those things might not do any better in performance, but defenitely in noise reduction...

It is soooo sooo much quieter, no high pitching... simply great....

Just my opinion, noise bothers me, even my HDDs are too noisy...
 
hey, if its only 14 bucks what the hell, but the review sites show that it leaves you with about the same performance using a loud Delta 80mm as it does with the loud Delta 60mm, which would lead one to the conclusion that if you use a quieter, lower flowing 80mm, you'll get less performance. why not save your money and just get a sunon or ys tech 60mm if you're not looking for performance?
 
When you force the airflow from 80mm or 92mm down to 60mm you will lose some efficiency. If you can't stand the noise of the Delta (I got tired of it) try a YS-tech 26cfm 60mm. My temps are about 2c warmer at full load, my overclock was not effected.
 
I'm getting hooked up with a sweet 80mm fan adapter from the webmaster at www.voidyourwarrenty.net It goes over the entire taisol heatsink, not just the middle. I'm getting a 47cfm panaflow fan too. Its going to perform BETTER than a delta and be much quiteter too. He has instructions on making on in the article too.
 
I just tried my 60->80mm adapter last night....SUCKS!!!

43cfm fan and not even close to helping...ran WAY hotter than the 27cfm 60mm I was running.

I tried it without the adapter too...no good...just wasted airflow going beyond the HS.
