Didn't Mythbusters show it takes a helluva lot more helium than the size of that thing, to lift a kid off the ground?

by the looks of it, the balloon was the size of the rescue trucks. that has a lot of lift. back when i was in hs i used to set up balloons for realtors, those blimp shaped ones are only 5 feet long and we made sure to have two people holding ropes on them. youo could moon walk with 2 4 foot rounds.

Since we are all awaiting the fate of this little kid, I'm wondering:

Is this some sort of publicity stunt set up by the father? The reaction of the authorities and media will not be kind if it's all a sham.

If the boy really was on board, did he fall out? Where?

The craft itself opens up a whole discussion about all these sightings of UFO's around the world. If that thing was flying around at night with some blinking lights, you'd swear it was from outer space.

it wasn't moving fast. ufo sightings usually are moving quick. airplane speeds and greater.

I wouldn't rule it out. The guy has been on some shitty reality TV show, he's obviously an attention whore.

So are you saying it wouldn't be considered an unidentified flying object?

WTF this isnt news

gosh! good thing i didn't post this in P&N then!

What I meant was why is it all over CNN getting the same attention as an airline bombing; had nothing to do with it being posted on ATOT

While other stories might be more tragic, this is something sensational, different and tragic. News is all over that.

At this point, I don't think things will turn out very well. Poor kid.

You're right. On that show they used a multitude of small balloons, instead of one giant one, leaving a lot of open air between them.

also conflicting stories about the kids. one says the 2 older brothers were playing on the roof when they seen him get in and float off. another says they were in the background with him.

weird.
