In related news, a major record label is currently in negotiations with the parents to make this child the new frontman in Fall Out Boy.

Well that seals the deal... I'm going to hell. Hopefully he didn't really fall out. 🙁

I hope that is the fact.

Big hugs for the 6 year old, then severe beatings all around.

😉

(I have a 5.5 year old boy. I can feel for the parents. I really pray that the boy is alright.)

Agreed. As a parent, you pray that the child is alright. One can joke about punishing the heck out of him, but it shouldn't have been that easy to release the ship like that.

It's the same thing if I leave one of my computer projects open on my desk. I shouldn't blame my 3yo son if he touches it.

No, he should get some blame. Obviously you don't go and beat the crap out of him, but you let him know he can't do stuff like that.

Yes, the balloon should have been secure better and not in the reach of a 6 year old to loose.

What kind of person thinks it's a good idea to have a massive fricking helium air ballon in their yard, and only held down by a couple of ropes.

Epic fail. So stupid.

It should have been tied down with a combination padlock. .. And I bet the kid was at least scared shitless once he saw how high he was and couldn't get back down. I doubt he would try it again.

They should get a bunch of sky divers to jump on the ballon and somehow attach a parachut to the thing and pop a hole in the ballon and ride it down to the ground or something.

They should let darwin play things out.

i don't really think a kid deserves to die because he was curious about the massive UFO shaped thing in his parents back yard

Darwin has nothing to do with what one "deserves".

Well, then they shouldn't let "darwin play things out." They should try to save the child, if he's in harms way. Because, that's what we do - we try to save people who need saving...

Of course, his parents should face whatever consequences they deserve, as well..

Letting "Darwin play things out" has nothing to do with trying to save the child, either.

then what does it mean - is it just some macho bullshit to say, to make you feel tough for not caring if a little kid lives or dies?

It has nothing to do with caring, either. Actions have consequences, deserved or not, intended or not.

Let's hope your kid never gets into a predicament like this.

Lets hope he does, I'd like to see if it still has 'nothing to do with caring'

Who are you kidding, like any of these guys will get laid without having to pay for it, let alone get married.

Since we are all awaiting the fate of this little kid, I'm wondering:

Is this some sort of publicity stunt set up by the father? The reaction of the authorities and media will not be kind if it's all a sham.

If the boy really was on board, did he fall out? Where?

The craft itself opens up a whole discussion about all these sightings of UFO's around the world. If that thing was flying around at night with some blinking lights, you'd swear it was from outer space.
