6 weeks with no cigarette and I'm about to kill someone

It has been since August 3rd 3:22pm EST since I have smoked a cigarette yay me ..

Bur these last couple of weeks have been the toughest. I just get so damn pissed off, so damn quickly that I fear that it may cost me my job or maybe an assault charge.

When I get mad, I just get mad down to my inner core it seems and want it to stop. I have raised my voice at my immediate boss and his boss, at customers, my wife catched it badly at times. I feel like the modern version of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, for I am fine one minute and then wishing to inflict harm just for having to repeat myself to someone.

Thought about going to doc to get some happy pills, I just hate to because it seems that once a person start those mood altering drugs that they never stop..

Anyone have any other ideas or will this just go away on its own?

Replacing one drug dependency w/ another will not help IMO NetGuySC 🙂

Would it be wise to use nicorette gum since I have been 6 weeks already with no nicotine?

IMO, no.

Maybe not, but it sure beats going to jail for assault.

Lack of nicotine is not the reason why he may assault someone, no matter how much he THINKS it may be. He's already off for a couple of weeks, it's not like he's 3 days off. My guess is that there are other issues involved.

..get pizzd of at the tobacco pushing companies that used slick advertisement and marketing to keep you inhaling smoke.

Any other smoker went thru this when they stopped?
I went cold turkey 7 months ago after 10 years of smoking a pack a day. I felt cravings and still do, but I fight them off. THey are not as strong as they were when I first stopped. I did not feel depressed because of it or anything similiar to what you described.

It not nicotine, (I do not see how it could be since it has been 6 weeks) What would cause this to happen.. I understand cigs being an emotional crutch etc.. but it seems like I would have been in worse shape the first two weeks of no cigs than I have been these last two weeks with no cigarettes

21 year smoker.... 1 to 1.5 pk day

Do you have insurance NetGuySC? If so, a psycho-therapist might help 🙂

You're probably right, and that's why I say it's probably not the lack of cigarettes causing this. You should find a therapist to talk out your issues with. We all have our issues, there is no shame in that.

If this continues I will probably take your advice, I won't be able to lose temper on my wife, Boss and customers for much longer before someone will make some changes for me.
