I bought the Lighten Up dawn simulator suggested in the article and it works great for $20. It gradually illuminates an incandescent bulb from 0 to 60 watts over a 30 minute period so you can set it to be illuminated when you wake up. I use it with a full spectrum bulb in the winter.
