What should we call the teams?

  • Comets vs Asteroids

  • Snowmen vs Yetis

  • Genomes vs Antibodies

  • Thunder vs Lightning

  • Prancers vs Dashers

  • Team 1 vs Team 2

Results are only viewable after voting.
In the past 24 hours: 1 808 303 points! Second highest daily production ever!
It is very visible that the teams are crunching! 🙂

2 hours and 48 minutes until the end of the race! 😉

One more interesting point:

Zipspeed: __________ 5 303 885 points
TAS-petrusbroder: __ 5 303 884 points

Close?

LOL! I win!

On another note my bigadv didn't finish in time. That said, well done team. This was my first race and I had a great time! Now to start saving for the 2011 race.

Here are the final stats as of January 1, 2011, 18:07 UTC:

FAH-Race-jan01aa.jpg

The winner in the 2010 Folding@Home Holiday Season Race were the
Abominable Snowmen with a margin of 50 208 points (=0.14%).
The very honorable second place was achieved by The Yetis, who made quite a incredible catch-up in the last days of the race.

The grand overall winner was however the TeAm AnandTech:

  • a production of 46 132 062 points during the race (the racers produced 35 125 126 points = 76.14% of the TeAm's production)
  • an increase in daily production from approx. 500K to 1 600K
  • an incredible monthly production of 45 814 949 points, which is the largest ever and almost double that of December 2009-race.
Congratulation to the Abominable Snowmen!

Here are some more individual stats:

This was a great race. All contributors were very important since the difference between the teams was so small - as was said earlier: each point counts!

Congratulations Snowmen................. 😎

Good job Yetis...... you done good.

Happy New Year everyone.

Thanks to all the racers for a great time. I do not think it could have a been better race: It was so close ... not even half-a-nose difference between the teams.

I do not know what will happen in 2011, but If I am healthy enough and still crunching and folding, I am - at this moment - prepared to organize the 6th annual Folding@home Holiday Season Race in December 2011.

I think I will change the race somewhat to make it more attractive - parhaps we should again challenge some other team, or run a races within the race (on a weekly schedule?), or ...

Please post your ideas in this thread! 🙂

Wow, that was a very close race. If my quad-GPU cruncher hadn't gone down a few days into the race, then maybe the Yetis would have come out ahead. Sorry about that. But overall, very good race, congratulations everyone, contributions large and small are all appreciated!

Coupled with my GPU folding down for an entire day and a bigadv missing the deadline by a few hours. Things fell apart a bit for me near the end when it counted the most. Was so intense!

Now I will have some time to figure out why my GPU crashes so often. My guess is the two 460s are having sync issues when overclocked since one is a 1 GB and the other 768 MB.

Alas, it's time to take computers offline. It be nice to let these computers continue folding but electricity isn't free. I'll finish folding whatever WU it's on at the moment. The two F@H computers in my sig will continue to fold.

Congrats to the Snowmen! I wasn't sure if Peter was going to let himself be on the losing team; so good sportsmanship there. 🙂

If I hadn't joined the PrimeGrid race, we might have come out on top! (Yeah, like that was going to happen. 😛)

I'm back! I see my machines, while I was gone, would do 150,000 one day, 200,000 the next, and 30,000 the next. It was a close one, but I got most of my WUs in. Now all the clients are set to "-oneunit". It's time to close up shop for me, except for 1 SMP client. I was hoping they would all stay on when I was gone.

Good race everyone! It was really close. It was a nailbiter and I was afraid I wouldn't get my bigADV units in before the end. Good job Yetis!

I hit 6 million too! 1.5 million in the past 3-4 years, and then 4.6 million in a month. To tell you the truth, I was gunning for Mark this year, but he upped his production more than I did this race. 7.5 million...

See you guys next year! Now to pay off my $400 power bill...

My last electric bill was on 12/21, and was only $271 !!

That's the good thing about winter, the computers double as heat!

Speaking of which, I didn't leave the window open when I left this morning, and when I came back, the heat was showing 80F. (I leave my heat set to 60-65F). All my apt neighbors keep their heat up high. I have to leave my window open in the winter.

Hey, I was at 4.5 million before the race, and 3.5 million most of the year ! My starting average was higher than your ending one 🙂 But congrats on the attempt ! The winner is a cure for cancer.

Congratulations to the Snowmen!

It was a great, very close, race - much fun 🙂

Thank you Peter for all you do to make this race such a success 😎

Great race everyone! I've been out all day and just got back to check on the results. Thanks to PB for all your hard work. Great job Snowmen! Thanks to the Yetis for being such worthy opponents. I think the MVC (most valuable cruncher) should be shared between Markfw900 (for his ridiculous output) and GLeeM (for his crazy dedication).

I'm hoping to save some money and upgrade my setups over the next 12 mos to see if I can't contribute a little more to my team next time around!

Happy New Year!

I have decided to keep one of my computers (i7-860 @3.5 GHz, GTX460) on Folding@Home with the smp-client and the GPU3-client. Should give an PPD of approx. 29K-32K. The the PS3 will go on folding too ...
Lets see how this stacks up until November 2011: 30K * 335 days = 10 Million and then the race on top ...

Thanks for the stats Peter! Its great to see all this work go to such a good cause.

 Same setup as me. Are you going to OC your GPU? My box has been having some stability problems, mainly during gaming. I have a feeling my 550W PSU is having trouble keeping up. Right now the cpu is at 3.57 GHz and the GTX460 @ 860 MHz Core and 2010 MHz memory.

Yeah, that one's a little weak on 12V for a 550W. I would recommend Antec Earthwatts or Truepower New, or something from Corsair or Seasonic.
