As a supposed "Microsoft Partner" (last time I checked Partner Program was for companies, not personnel) you should know better: it has nothing to do with "MS declaring all 3rd party vendor drivers for W7" - it's about WHQL W7 drivers will work on 2008 R2 and whatever I installed so far they do work, period.

AMD's beta drivers are NOT WHQL drivers. They are beta drivers, plain and simple.

Neither AMD nor Microsoft say that these drivers will work with anything, and you will most likely never find MS support for some companies beta drivers.

AMD just needs to get themselves together and release some good drivers if they are going to be charging that much money for a card.

So says your experience...mine is otherwise. Specifically with a newer sound card and a few other peripherals.

Again, doesn't this thread exist BECAUSE the Win 7 drivers DONT work with Server 2008 in this instance? Did I miss the part where of the thread where the poster used an ATI driver (WHQL) for the Radeon 5970 that exists for Server 2008? Obviously the Win 7 driver DIDN'T work so far.

Nope, it exists because someone had a 5770 working perfectly fine with W7 drivers in 2008 R2 then he swapped it with a 5970 and got very low frame rate. Then he tried all sorts of nasty hacks etc but only made it worse.

You probably did miss where he explicitly said "Beta 5" indeed, it seems.
Ahh and it's Server 2008 R2, Microsoft Partner. 😉

Obviously the Win 7 driver DIDN'T work so far.

Calling his back-and-forth hacked-reinstalled-fucked-up driver config a WHQL driver installation is pretty much beyond my MS certification so I must say no and quit here... 😀

That was my point, exactly. 🙂

OUCH - "Nope, it exists because someone had a 5770 working perfectly fine with W7 drivers in 2008 R2 then he swapped it with a 5970 and got very low frame rate. Then he tried all sorts of nasty hacks etc but only made it worse"

Gees man, I didnt hack anything. I was exploring options to try to make this work. I am not quite sure how you apply switching drivers, be it BETA or not to hacking, but by all means with your MS Certified being, can determine otherwise, please, enlighten me 🙂
....

I tried 2 different sets of drivers - not sure how you also determined "his back-and-forth hacked-reinstalled-fucked-up driver config" Dude - ahh, ok.

Any ways, I am still open to thoughts, as originally stated - not to be bashed.

Nah, I was just being too lazy to explain, nothing, sorry for the confusion. 🙂

What I meant is that unless you get WHQL it's not guaranteed and even so CF probably isn't something that plays well with your 2008 R2 anyway...
