yes he did. Some places like San Francisco I heard, (which by the way rejected the Recall) voted to put it back in, so its high for those places still.

^^^ There you go. California has jacked up the registration costs for vehicles sky high.

Somehow I missed this. Link, by any chance? *sigh*

freesia39, yes I believe it is. :( I wish it was only $83. $578 is INSANE.

what the, it doesn't sound right. my brother's car is only a year older than mine and was only 100 something. this car is four years older than mine.

when did he buy it? no late fees for renewals? anything they mention in the notice?

Does he have any outstanding tickets?

Mine was ~$400 because I had some parking tickets I forgot about.

Just for the registration, though, it was around $170.

fvcking seattle just jacked us badly too, we have to pay for that godforsakking usless monorail for the snobby spoiled west seattleates, fvck them!

Yeah, no joke there. I just renewed my tabs today, $350!

I thought I was getting screwed last year when it was only $298, heh.

Stupid monorail. The tax for it alone was $255. Of course, the sign on the wall said that registration renewal was only $29 plus tax, heh.

Edit: Does he happen to live in San Francisco?

LA. :( $38, man... $578 is almost 20% of the car's total value. :(

LA? That doesn't sound right...

The cost of living california isn't worth it.
Hopefully it sinks into the ocean soon.

the same could be said of new york
Untrue, unless you are speaking of NYC.

The same could be said for CA unless you're talking about the expensive cities. Although we have a lot more of them considering we're like 10 times the size of NY.

Link please, I don't believe that is correct.

Btw, he just bought the car, your all overlooking the fact his sales tax is included in the registration cost (e.g. this is not a renewal)

35mil as opposed to 20mil. not that huge of a difference. Were the two of the three most populated states. Texas should reflect similar markets, but it doesn't.

2 questions b/c it should cost around $80 for the vehicle you mentioned:

Did this car come from out of state?
Was this car recently purchased and no sales tax has been paid yet?
