California. :(

^^^ There you go. California has jacked up the registration costs for vehicles sky high.

Stupid monorail. The tax for it alone was $255. Of course, the sign on the wall said that registration renewal was only $29 plus tax, heh.

yeah seriously! i will get 0 use out of the monorail! all east side residents are getting f'd in the a

Just called him to ask for details, and the bill includes sales tax for the car. Sorry to freak everyone out, thx for the info Bill. Still, that's a big chunk of change. We'll be ramen-ing it for a few weeks. :(

did he buy this off a private sale??? if so, he should of gotten the owner to list as a gift from a friend!

that's how i sold my 'teg and accord lx thru third party...with that high mileage, that ridiculous registration fee is so NOT worth it!!!

<-- advice not legally right, but it's only illegal if you get caught! ;)

It was a private sale, and they didn't do that... bill of sale reads what he paid for it. :(

Isn't that a felony? :Q

The best way is to put your own "sale price" on the title. Usually the seller will let you fill it in yourself, they don't care as long as they get their money. It's morally and ethically wrong but my buddy somehow got a great deal and got his dirtbike for $500 instead of the normal $2500 that they were going for and therefore paid only $41.25 in taxes instead of $206.25. I told him he was wrong.

Here in Oregon it's like $54 every 2 years for DEQ and license tag renewal.
