hm..i just registered my new york 1999 honda accord lx with maryland's dept of motor vehicle today and it's ~$850 total after taxes, such a @#$# rip too.

that's how i sold my 'teg and accord lx thru third party...with that high mileage, that ridiculous registration fee is so NOT worth it!!!

The best way is to put your own "sale price" on the title. Usually the seller will let you fill it in yourself, they don't care as long as they get their money. It's morally and ethically wrong but my buddy somehow got a great deal and got his dirtbike for $500 instead of the normal $2500 that they were going for and therefore paid only $41.25 in taxes instead of $206.25. I told him he was wrong.
