4x decline in deaths over the weekend, which is very good news. Not 4x decline overall in shootings, as there were 82 shot over the weekend in 2014 and 62 this year. Which is also good news that it is lower. Hopefully they can carry this momentum to other holidays. But they used far more police than in the post, may not be feasible for any length of time. Pretty costly I am sure.
But you accuse someone of "FUD" or false information when you did the same thing. And yes that Fox article was terrible, it's not skyrocketing compared to previous years, over the weekend anyways.
This year is not over, but 2014 had 416 murders and 2015 had 468 murders, a 12.5% increase. Total shootings were at 2,900 in 2015 a 13% increase over 2014. Still doesn't seem like skyrocketing to me, but that is a substantial amount more. So yes violent crime is up, at least in regards to shootings. In that they were right, but not for this particular weekend. This years numbers are pretty high so far as well.

First link that popped up, didn't compare. But Time seems pretty credible? Even if they have shown bias and idiocy in the past.
