Why would the US want PR as a state ?? Whats the advantage ??
At least they had reasons to bring Hawaii and Alaska in.

The last time we tried to add Puerto Rico they came in and shot up the House of Representatives. Still a bullet hole to this day in the front right desk.

We could threaten to annex them to Cuba or Haiti if they don't submit.

Canada is going to be the 51st state btw

If I remember correctly, one of my teachers told me that one of the reasons they aren't a state already is because of something about admitting 2 states at a time.

I think you remember incorrectly.

IIRC they have voted multiple times to not become part of the union.

I think California will be cut in half before Puerto Rico becomes a state. I think that cutting CA in half would be good. Cut just south of San Luis Obispo then across above Bakersfield then straight to the Nevada border. Although both halves of California may not want Bakersfield so it may end up like D.C.

I just said it's one of the reasons, not the only reason :)

We should add Mexico as a state. They're so much a part of our society already. Think of the natural resources and beauty of that country. ;)

Puerto Rico would loose some tax benefits if they became a state. US Corporations run down there pretty much tax free, and they want to keep it that way. So I say no.
