It had better either be accepted in or the US needs to stop extending so much money directly into the culture and giving them US-citizen-like benefits without taxing them. Grr... one of my great pet peaves.

PR only wants to become a state when their economy sucks, and then the US says no. When the US wants it to be a state the economy is doing well and the say no to keep their money. I think that eventually there will be a happy median, but not any time soon.
