Does this come with a clip or armband or something that would make it usable for jogging? I'm tempted, but I hate having to hold something while I run.

It has a small keychain ring at the end, so you could hang it anywhere.

Another neat thing I found was that when you plug it into a USB port, the LCD displays the connection, and has simple animation when file transfer is happening. I took out the battery, and the display was still showing. However, I wonder if the player is smart enough to draw power from the USB port (rather than the battery) when it's plugged in...

Is it possible to get these things to play through a car's stero?

more specifically, if your headunit (cd player) has auxilary input you can easily get a headphone to headphone cord and plug it in, since almost noone has this aux input you would have to do an fm tuner... which is far less than optimal. I have read about how you can build a very high quality FM tuner ($40) into the direct input for your antenna in in the back of your cd player, similar to an old rf adaptor.

PS this sucker is back in stock. If I wasn't already pre-ordering a PSP i would prolly get it

okay. i plugged it in. wen to disk management and reformatted the drive. now it only read as having 120mb... anyone know what to do?

Has anyone who picked this up have a comment on the weight? I'm still mulling this one, that unknown is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger. Thanks.

it is very lite weight, you won't notice it in your pockets. about the weight of a pack of gum.

This same player can be purchased on eBay, via auctions, in the low $60s. They are available in Red and Purple as well as Black.
Search for "MP3 512". These items are being sold every 15 minutes, and sometimes, even more frequently.
At least one vendor is selling a look-alike that is USB1.1 so be careful to check for that.

Okay, I received the player and have used it for a couple of days. I have not used any other solid state MP3 portable player. The unit is small, light weight, and has features that are either not coverd by the manual or not explained very well. I have not use the ear buds that come with the unit. I've used the Sony MDR NC10 (noise canceling ear buds), Sony MDR V900 (closed cell headphones), and the Belkin TuneCast II mobile FM transmitter in the car. My PC based on ABiT VP6 motherboard does not have USB2 but USB1.x. The Omisys MP3 player is USB2 but it is backward compatible to USB1.x. My first impression is very positive. The sound quality is very good (for MP3). The LCD display is quite handy although the characters and fiqures are small, heck, the unit is small. The MODE switch/lever takes a little effort to master, at least for me. I have not replaced the batteries yet so I don't know the life span. I loaded the unit up with a 3 deep nested file structure. The files stored just fine but I was unable to access from the LCD menu below the second level. I could access all the files through the USB port just fine.

I contacted the folks at Omisys via e-mail asked about adding FM radio upgrade. They responded and said this version, MP-334 offerd by Dealsonic.com, does not have the chipset for the radio but Omisys does market one that comes with the FM radio.

I bought, several years ago a CD/MP3 player (Genica from Geeks )and the Omisys player was to replace it. It does nicely. The Omisys MP-334 works well for me, at least so far.

Do any of these units do a good or even fair job of recording live music. Been a few times I'd like a copy of a concert to remember. Not bootleg publishing quality just to remember it or to take my own jam seesions easily. Maybe a unit with removable sd memory would be a plus.
Thanks

i read your post re: the mp3 player, and i wanted to know the omisys model with an fm radio, and if it had a gb and usb 2.0. tia

Omisys site

The site is not as complete as one would like but it appears that they make a unit with 1Gb and FM. The problem may be finding a distributor.

Dealsonic sells MP-334 with 512Mb but the Omisys site doesn't show one. It does show a MP-332 which is a 128Mb model and it can be configured with the optional FM radio. The site also shows a MP-333F which has 256Mb and FM. I suspect that MP-33x where x denotes memory option and the F denotes FM. So e-mail (tech@eurone.com.tw) them and ask if there is a MP-335F.

I haven't tried the voice recording function yet but its only a single internal mic so I don't expect much from it. The users 'manual' states it will record 10 hours WAV (32k bps) ACT (8k bps).

Very nice find!
$65 with FREE shipping is the ideal way to buy this item.
If I had known about this place, I wouldn't have bothered with eBay. It took a lot of persistance to get a good winning bid on eBay. And by the way, these are not even available on eBay right now.

Another bump for the recording capabilities. I have lots of lecture classes this semester and it would be awesome to have a digital recorder that I could play on my computer without to much trouble.

i just shipped mine back today. i fail to understand why formatting it as a harddrive would have irreversable effect. i know i probably shouldn't have did it in the first place, but whenever i tried to load some files on it would complain.

I would drag a folder of mp3s in there, there were 12-15 mp3 files in the folder, in the middle of copying i would get a "parameter error" and aborts the copy. i tried with probably 5-10 different albums and it did the same thing. each folder is 1 complete album.

so i formatted it using disk mgmt. the player no longer recognized that it had 512mb, but shows up as 120mb. i tried reinstalling the firmware that they provide, but no effect. so i had a 120mb player on my hand. However, reformatting it did get ride of ALL errors.

i am getting my money back. or hopefully they refund my money.
