People are sick. With so many rumors of new (better?) cards hitting the shelves in Q1, probably Q2 at the latest, why spend that much money to upgrade when most people in the market for a 512MB GTX probably already have at least a 7800GT or two.

Well, I wouldn't be so bold as to say that. Two 7800GTs are generally about 10% faster than one 512MB 7800GTX. But that is still an incredibly high amount to pay for that card.

Based on the price I paid and that it's an eVGA, my reasoning behind getting it was that I'd be able to use their step-up program to get the G71 when it comes out hopefully in Feb for little to no money. But yeah, if someone is willing to pay $1k+ for a card, I should grant their wish.

Don't scream but I think I'll end-up going w/ a X1800XT.

Wow, with that kind of money out of a 7800GTX 512mb through ebay, you can build a whole new RIG!!!

You know what, even if youve sold the GTX for over 1.5k, you could grab two more with the money earnt and SLi them. There is your G71/R580 performance.
