sounds good.

and for those who called me a spoiled brat; i worked for this money, i did dishes at applebees for 3 months, sure its grunt work, but i did it, and i'm spending it the way i want to spend it. not like i begged my parents for this money.

ok, sorry that I called you spoiled brat. I have been there and done that. I blew 90% of what I made on some useless junks. but now, I would save it.
do whatever you want with it, you do deserve get a treat for yourself.

Dude save that money. You don't just go around finding 500 dollars here and there. Keep it, maybe save up til you have 3000 or so and try your hand at investing in stocks or mutual funds and learning a little more about our economy instead of being ignorant.

How many hours a week did you work? Three months is a long time to make $500.

In other words: Dude save it till theres a lot, then gamble it and put some in mutual funds 🙂

I can somewhat see where the OP's coming from. I bussed tables and "mucked" at Texas Roadhouse for four months last year. I hated it. Because of that, when I got my money, I wanted to spend it on something I REALLY wanted, something that would make me happy right then, and not just put it away or something. This was to reconcile what I had to do to get that money.

Now that I don't hate my job, I just spend casually and save the excess. Because I don't spend haphazardly and only get what I really want and need, a good chuck is usually left over to transfer to ING.

are you retard? why are you posting here, if you are expecting to die every moment of your life? 😕

am i retarded? what kind of question is that? i'm not expecting to die, i'm just saying that its possible, if i put that $500 in my bank then what will happen to it? it will sit there till college, then in college i'll end up blowing it on something stupid anyway. i didnt make this post so you guys could forsee my future or become my finicial advisor, i just want to spend $500. is that so hard?

Well, you posted here. Why not take some sound advice and save your money. You'll wish you had. Try not being a smart ass and listen to some people who might just know a little more than you do.....:disgust:

question: if you're going to work "purly for art", wouldn't it be best to blow that money on something art related? I gather that "art" is something you enjoy anyways -- kinda like how a techie blows a few grand on building their LAN to upwards of 30 nodes when they live alone.

I would save half and spend half if for no other reason than you'll develop good financial habits, get some instant gratification, and eventually look at the bank balance and know you earned every cent.

You're going to turn 16 sooner or later... Save it for a car! Hell, even if your parents get you a car, you'll want the $500 to upgrade the stereo or put some stupid looking spoiler on the back of it!

a new mp3 player would be nice... i suggest the iRiver h10. That, or a second LCD monitor for a dual setup, A new guitar, or even a new videocard, seeing as how a top of the line card these days can last you a good 5 years. Technology doesn't progress quite as fast as it use to 🙂

i need a new toy.

quick.

I agree with the "Save it" crowd. As you're not going to listen to that for whatever reason, I suggest the "Spend it on your girlfriend and get laid" line of thinking. Yeah.

a $1000 genuine U.S. Savings Bond...

Then ebay it... I'm sure some moron will pay you $800 or more for it. 🙂

crap. I should try that myself.
