Any users of this drive out there who can report on the loudness others have claimed. I'm waiting to order a large drive that can be used with Dish' VIP 622 later this year when they enable USB external drive support and would prefer a quiet drive. I installed a Seagate 120GB drive in a computer for a friend and you couldn't actually hear it working.
 
Well I tried to get it and it got removed from my cart due to insufficient stock. So it looks like this is dead. Or at least until they get more stock assuming they do while the deal is still going on.
 
For those lucky enough to get one I checked mine on seagates website and it indeed is 5 year warranty.
 
Mine (which was ordered 24hrs ago, paid by Paypal) now still stuck in Step 1.
What's up with that?
Has anyone elses's has been shipped yet?

This is normal for Paypal transactions - seems to always take an extra 24 hours to clear versus a CC payment, at least the 3 times I've done it.

Mine went from step 1 to 5 in just a few hours, but I did a cc transaction. Mine will be here Tuesday, gonna be nice!

Hmm...My last purchase (Dec'06) via Paypal went thru within hrs and shipped next day.
 
Maybe it was the weekend that slowed it down? I dunno, give them a call and see what they say
 
just installed mine in a cd bay, how hot do these get? my other 5 hd's have 2 80mm fans blowing on them, this is all alone up there, think it needs a fan?
 
Mine has been in for a few days and no problems yet. Also this thing is way quiet, it might be my case but I can't hear it at all in my silent P180.

They sell drive bay fans that you connect the HD to. I used one, has 3 little fans on the from and a removable screen to block out dust. You should definately get one.
