If you want successfull entrepenuers in the rap game look no further than Master P. He started off selling tapes from the back of his car...and now look at him. He diversified into legal businesses that do everything from real estate to producing videos/movies, etc... He knew his game was up in the music biz so he branched out..nothing wrong with that. Puff Daddy does the same thing...he's selling the lifestyle of being a rich playa.

But they amassed their funds legally. I have no respect for someone who started off selling crack to earn money...I'd like to hear your tune when some guy sells crack to your kids. Is it ok then?

master p and puffy have as many skeletons in there closet as 50 I assure you.

i cant believe you are defending 49 cents and his drug dealing career.
going back to skoorb's example, Bill Gates started off without any money. and he made all his money (more) legitmately than 50 yen

bad example to use.... but anyways if you are going to draw a comparison you must begiin with two people that started in the same fashion. Gates certainly did not grow up with a crackhead mother living amongst the rats and roaches in some notorious neighborhoods in queens.

no im comparing the 2 based on your opinion that 50 cent is a good business man and common knowledge that Bill Gates is a good business man. They both started without money. One chose the legal way, one didnt. Yet, the one who chose the legal way is the richest man alive now; and the one who didnt, need flamebait threads on internet forums to defend him

to be completely fair, there are many flamebait threads on the internet defending Billy G. 😛

I can't hate on 50. He saw a chance to make millions and he went for it. Damn it if I had the same opportunity I would take it too.

Your career might be long or short. You can be the man one moment and a chump the next. People will laugh at you and call you fake but I would not care. I would laugh longer and louder since they bought my album and made me a millionaire.

Also in a few years some new rapper will make fun of 50 and make him look like crap. It's an endless cycle.

If he hadn't gotten his breakthrough in rapping he'd still be selling drugs, or dead. In fact now he still sells the same stuff he used to, minus the exchanging of hands. By this I mean he still sells thuggery. Everything he sells is an image. When I listen to music by U2 or Britney Spears I am not buying an image; I'm buying MUSIC. When I listen to something by 50 IQ I'm listening to a medium through which he is selling his image...an image bred essentially out of wanton illegality.

Everything you said is null and void after that comment.

Simple solution - don't diss anybody. There's many people rich from rap who ain't done sh!t. There's tons of people rich in other genres that don't have any talent...

OK. WTF. I didn't post that.

Time will tell. Rappers like Ice-T and Ice Cube have shown that they have "talent". 20 years after they began they are still in showbiz making money. Dre has also been around for years only he's making money of whoever is new and popular. "fiddy" and others probably won't. Very few rappers have stood the test of time. I've listed three out of how many? The way fiddy's spending money, he'll probably go the way of Hammer and we'll see him on some reality show in 10 years.

Snoop Dogg has also stood that test... Not many others, though... I agree.

My prediction and I can be wrong here....is that after Tony Yayo drops his solo album in may 50 will fall back out of the lime light much like puffy. And just kinda be the boss of things and develop his team/brand. That would be the smart thing to do I mean he has like 7 songs on the radio right now getting regular rotation so he is far from a one hit wonder. He needs to pull back though so ppl who actually like him dont get too sick of him to soon.

Rap Be Gone. Now there is a product I would support. Does it come as a liquid as well as a spray?

I would probably put DMX and Ludacris over Jay-Z and Nas, just for the fact they have gone mainstream in fields other than Rap...
